“Dude, Darius’s face was fucking priceless,” Crue says as he enters the room again. Darius’s laughter immediately cuts off and he pins Crue with a glare.

“Fuck off, I didn’t give a shit—”

“You are so full of shit, we all know you were stewing in your rage the second the four of us left your ass here with Courtney,” Saint quips.

“Callie!” Crue corrects.

“Cathy, dumbasses,” Darius says smugly.

“Chelsea!” Katie, Cody and Leah all shout in unison, causing the three guys to cringe. I can’t help the laughter that bubbles out of me, it takes a couple of seconds before the girls join me.

“None of you know what the poor girl’s name is?” I ask the guys the moment my laughter subsides.

“Don’t feel sorry for her, she was a right cunt and couldn’t take the hint that Darius was never up for grabs. He even told her to fuck off at the Thanksgiving bonfire and she still didn’t get the hint,” Leah says. D wraps an arm around her and pulls her in closer to him.

“It’s only ever been you, Goldie.” Darius’s words have us four girls swooning and the four guys groaning.

“Let’s move the fuck on. I don’t relish throwing up in my own mouth again,” Corvin snarls.

Beckett

“Okay, let’s start with what we know,” I say, drawing everyone’s attention to me. “Whoever the fuck is doing this has access to Val’s apartment, knows her schedule and is following her every move.” I see her begin to tremble out of the corner of my eye. I place my hand on top of hers that rests on my thigh and give it a reassuring squeeze.

“Do you have a list of all the students you tutor?” Leah asks her, and Val nods.

“Yeah, I have a schedule that the guidance office sends me at the start of each semester.”

“We need a copy of that from the time you first started tutoring. I’ve contacted Troy, he’s going to get us the info for the P.I he uses.” Valance turns to stare up at me.

“You want to hire a private investigator?”

“Do you have a better idea?” I volley back.

“Yeah, I do actually.” I frown down at her.

“Which is?” I push.

“For me to walk to school by myself for the rest of the week—”

“Fuck no!” I grit out, cutting her off. Her eyes soften as she gazes up at me.

“Beck, listen to me.” Her eyes plead for me to listen to what she has to say but she doesn’t get it.

“No, you listen to me, Valance. You want to put yourself in harm’s way to catch this cunt, last time you were in harm’s way I snapped and I lost you. I won’t fucking let that shit happen again when I just got you back.” I’m not the type of guy who shares feelings or even shows affection but right now, I don’t give a fuck. She needs to know that losing her again isn’t an option for me. I lost once already and it nearly fucking killed me. I won’t survive losing her again. I only started to smile recently when Leah came back into my life because she reminds me so much of Val. I’m close with Leah, not because I have feelings for her but because she reminded me of the girl I fell in love with years ago. Fuck, there it is, I’m still madly fucking deeply in love with the girl I killed for.

“Beck…” she breathes my name like a prayer as her eyes grow misty. I cup her cheek with my free hand, she nuzzles into my touch.

“Don’t do this, I can’t lose you again,” I whisper my greatest fear aloud. I’d go back to living in abandon houses, under a bridge or in the school gym again if it meant never losing her. Without her in my life I was a shell, I hid in the shadows and never really lived… I just existed. She pushes my hand away, stands and swings her leg over my lap to straddle me, not caring that all our friends are watching us as she claps my face and places a kiss to my lips, before resting her forehead against mine.

“You’ll never lose me. I’ve always been yours since we were sixteen and that will never change, Beckett Dawson. You and I areEnd Gamematerial. Let some bastard come and try take you from me and I’ll show them that I can be just as ruthless and cutthroat as you. I’m not going anywhere until you tell me to.” Gripping the back of her neck, I pull her until my lips ghost over hers.

“That day will never come. You’re my beginning, middle and end, baby,” I whisper before meshing my lips to hers and showing her without words that she fucking owns every part of me—mind, body, heart and soul. Valance Karver isn’t just my first love or the mother of my child, she is my heartbeat.

“Oh my God, Becky!” I break the kiss as Val buries her face to hide her blush in the crook of my neck, as I peer over at Leah who is wiping tears from her cheeks. “I think I love you more than before.”

“Fuck me dead, I'm right fucking here, Leah!” Darius snaps angrily. Leah just waves him off, not caring he’s butt hurt. I smirk and shoot my boy a wink. He flips me off and slouches back into his chair huffing.

“Must be nice to have a guy profess his feelings,” Cody mumbles, earning a glare from Corvin, which she ignores.
