I choose not to answer.

He’s a distraction I don’t need at the moment.

Ignoring him is a dick move, but I need to focus on the task ahead. It’s not like he can help me drive faster.

I will call him back when I’m at the warehouse and have assessed the situation. If I remember the warehouse correctly, it’s not overly big, but there are few other buildings around. You can be seen coming from all directions. I’ll have to park a few blocks away and walk the rest of the way to the warehouse. If I can breach the perimeter without being noticed, I’ll go inside undetected and get Ava.

Ava and I can escape via a tunnel that runs through the sewers. Hopefully, it’s still functional.

I park my SUV a few streets down and walk to the parking structure. The warehouse already has a few cars parked out front. I recognize Junior’s car immediately.

To say the man is sick is an understatement. Three years ago, we learned he was abusing his position and taking advantage of some of the younger women in the Clan. Viktor nearly killed Junior, but Angus stopped him. He told him he didn’t need the heat, and I agreed.

Bobby made a deal with our father, and Junior was sent to Scotland. I didn’t know he was back in the country.

There isn’t time to reminisce about Junior’s past activities if Ava is inside with him. I make my way to the staircase and take two steps at a time. Time is of the essence. When I reach the roof, I position myself and take out a set of binoculars. I notice a car that I don’t recognize pulling up. It parks near the warehouse. When the door opens, Diana slides out.

“What the fuck are you doing here, Diana?” I muse.

I wait to see if anyone else follows, but Diana appears to be alone. She goes inside without a care in the world.

I know the woman is all about herself, but I never imagined she’d harm Ava. Ava is her daughter. I feel an uncontrollable rage. What the fuck is wrong with this woman?

I take a breath to calm my anger. That’s when I spot two more cars. My jaw tightens when I realize one of them belongs to my father.

My cell rings. It is Viktor again.

“About fucking time. Do you have Ava? Where are you?” Viktor demands.

“I have eyes on where I’m sure she is. Do you remember the first warehouse our father bought?” I ask, not wanting to waste time.

“The one out of commission?” He asks.

“That’s the one. He has the place surrounded. I could probably sneak in, but I don’t have eyes inside, so there’s no way to confirm if Ava is here.”

“Stay put. I don’t need you dead. Glue yourself somewhere. Keep an eye out in the event something changes.”

“I know the warehouse inside out. Our father won’t kill Ava yet, but I won’t let him move her.”

“How do you know he won’t kill her?”

“She’s leverage, and he’s sadistic. He wants you to watch her die. Otherwise, he would have killed her already.”

“Don’t go inside. I’ll be there soon.”

“I’ll stay put as long as I can.”

“Oliver—”

“She comes first, Viktor. We agreed. Shit, there’s movement. I have to go.”

I ready my weapons.

There isn’t time to wait for Viktor. I told him our father won’t kill Ava, but he’s capable of anything. If Ava is in the way of his ultimate plan, he will get rid of her simply because he can. I have to get her out of that hellhole. If I go through the sewers, I can enter the warehouse through the trapdoor. It could be guarded, but that’s a risk I have to take.

I go to the nearest sewer cover. If I recall the sewers correctly, it should be a straight shot to the warehouse.

Inside the sewer, the smell is overpowering. I fight through it and march fast.
