“Sky thinks you guys are magical wizards, preparing our closets like you did. How on earth did you find out our sizes? Everything fits perfectly,” Rosalie states, her blue eyes wide with surprise.

“Maybe I am a magical wizard,” I say, wiggling my brows at her. “I have my ways. I’m glad that you had a comfortable stay especially after everything last night. Have you been able to speak to your sister? Let me know if you need any help with regards to her.”

“Magnolia texted me earlier, she said not to worry about her, she’s fine and that she will call us tonight,” Rosalie shares.

That’s good, I’ve been worried about leaving her with that Carandini fellow. “I’m glad, that would have put you at ease hearing from her. With regards to your request last night about seeing if there is a loophole in your laws that will allow your sister to regain your kingdom, I spoke to my lawyer this morning and he’s going to start looking at the Aegina constitution and everything that revolves around heirs and succession. Michael assures me if there is a loophole that he’ll find it, and I trust him,” I explain.

Rosalie’s face softens as she stares at me in awe. “I can’t believe you are already onto it. You are a wizard. Thank you so very much.”

My chest tightens and a fluttering sensation slides over my body at her words. “It’s going to take a while, but I trust my lawyer. We will work on a plan B if he can’t find anything,” I say, reassuring her.

“Just trying is enough for me,” she states.

I give her a warm smile before jumping into business. “Now to the matter at hand,” I start. “Last night didn’t go the way I had planned over your announcement of being my soon-to-be wife.”

Rosalie gives me a small smile, and I know she is about to apologize, but I don’t want to hear it because she had to do what she needed to do for her family, and I will never blame her for that.

“Because of that I wasn’t able to do this next step,” I explain to her.

Rosalie frowns, she has no idea what I have planned and it’s cute watching her trying to work out what’s going on.

Greyson takes the black box from the side table and places it on my desk, then turns it around to face Rosalie before opening the box.

“Shit, Rose.” Skylar gasps as she nudges her sister. They both stare open-mouthed at the box filled with glittering diamond engagement rings.

“I know this isn’t very romantic,” I tell her, giving her a sheepish look, “but we all know why we are here.”

Rosalie’s face falls for a second at my words. Were they too harsh? Too transactional? I’ve never been in this situation before, and I thought being completely honest and not pretending this is anything more was the right way to go.

“I wanted Rosalie to have a choice in what she would wear, they are from the royal jewelers,” I tell her.

Skylar looks over at her sister and nudges her, giving her a wide smile of encouragement.

“I hope you like the choices?” I say, feeling nervous. I chose the best of the best. Something that would be worthy of my wife-to-be.

“They are all so beautiful,” Rosalie says as she admires them in the box. “Any one of them would be perfect.”

“Try them on or I will.” Skylar nudges her.

Rosalie’s hand shakes as she reaches into the velvet box, pulls out a ring, and slides it on her finger. Seeing the symbol of what we have agreed upon hits me in the chest. I look up at Greyson, and I notice the shadows falling across his face. Watching someone else trying on rings for me may have been too much for him. It was a dick move to invite him, but I never wanted him to think I’m excluding him.

“I like this one,” Greyson says, pointing to a vintage-inspired ring, it is the smallest of them all, but it was the one I was drawn to first too. He looks over at me and gives me a wide smile which eases the anxiety running through my veins.

Rosalie picks up the ring and slides it on her finger and it’s perfect, as if it was made for her.

“It looks like it was made for you. That’s you in a ring,” Skylar says, echoing my thoughts.

“Do you like it?” I ask her because we can all love it, but she is the one that has to wear it.

“Yes. Yes, I do,” she says excitedly as she looks around the room with a huge smile on her face.

Oh, thank goodness.

“Yay, my turn.” Skylar chuckles as she plays around with the rings.

“My parents will be happy that you have chosen something when we have dinner with them tomorrow night.”

Rosalie’s eyes widen, and Skylar stops playing with the jewels.
