“What’s this?” Jenna asked, tilting her head to the side.

“Open it,” Talon answered.

Jenna smirked and slid a finger under the seal. Then she pulled out the typed sheet, when her eyes hit his, he saw them flair.

She dropped the test results to the counter. “We done with condoms?”

“You let me in there, yeah.”

“Then we’re done with condoms,” she said, laughing when he prowled around the counter, unbuttoning his fly. “Here? Now?”

And the giggle that hit his ears when he picked her up and set her ass on the counter was the most feminine thing he’d ever heard in his life, and he loved every second of it.

“You on the pill?” he asked, pulling her thong to the side.

“At my age?” she laughed.

Then he lined up his cock and surged inside with a growl.

“No,” she breathed, head tipped back.

But he didn’t hear her. And at that moment, he didn’t care.

Late October

Jenna

The bathroom counter was solid under my hands, but the floor seemed to fall out from under my feet while I stared at the tiny blue plus sign.

And when the tiny blue plus sign went blurry, I let go of the counter and clutched low, surrounding and protecting the tiny life Talon and I had made.

And that’s how he found me.

Doubled over in the bathroom, holding my stomach, and sobbing.

Talon’s arms went around me, “Holy fuck, baby, what’s wrong?”

I looked up through the tears, couldn’t even form the words, and just pointed to the test on the counter.

And I felt Talon go still.

“What’s that?” he asked, his voice nothing more than a harsh whisper.

And that’s when it hit me that the only time we’d talked about this, I’d pretty much assured him thatthiscouldn’t happen.

So I backed up. Literally.

I stepped out of his embrace, blinked through the tears, and didn’t stop until the wall was at my back.

“I always wanted more kids, T,” I started, and once I started, the words just kept coming. “I know this is the exact opposite of me telling you I’m too old to have a baby, but I have the chance to be a mom again, and I’m not giving it up.”

“That what you think I want?” Talon asked.

Panic seized my chest and my heart pounded, “I’m not sure. I mean, we never talked about being parents. I know you’re good with Cassie, but she’s grown. A baby is…. Well, a baby.”

Talon stayed still, eyes glued to mine, watching. Then he started for me, moving slow. Stalking. “Told you. Not leaving again.” Another step. “Told you, coming back no matter how many times you try to push me away.” Another step. “You’re not using my kid to get rid of me.”
