Brushing past him, I stormed out of my room. I could feel the water on my cheeks. Wiping my face, I promised myself that it was the last time I would weep for my father’s acceptance.

I went downstairs.

My mask was back in place. I stood in the middle of the floor in the dining room, waiting for my father to come down. When he came down the men looked past him to me. I knew Mikhail must have been at the door. I need Anya now more than ever. I was determined not to spend another night underneath his roof. Our feelings and differences made us oceans apart. I couldn’t stay here with him treating me the way he did.

Liam came to stand next to the men and motioned for Ben to open the door. “Let Mikhail inside.”

Closing my eyes, I tried to slow my rapid heartbeat. Whatever he had to tell us, I doubted it would shred my heart like my father had done. On the outside I appeared bored but, on the inside, I was hemorrhaging to death. The throbbing at my temple alerted me that I had failed to control my temper. My blood pressure was at stroke level.

Mikhail walked through the door.

When Ben closed the door and resumed his position near father, my hands balled at my side. If I didn’t calm down, I might stroke out right here. My jaw clenched.

Where is Anya? If Le has her I’m going to kill Mikhail.

“Where is she,” asked Liam. His lips thinned as he glared at Mikhail.

Any other time I would attempt to curtail his rage, but in this moment we were united.

“Anya was kidnapped in front of the safe house. There was a device left behind. Unfortunately, I was unable to hack it. The technology was Albanian.”

Bullshit. You’re lying. There isn’t anything that you can’t hack. You’re a damn genius.

Was this why the slick bastard had asked me to play along. He would know that I knew he was capable of hacking Albanian technology.

“Ben, get me a shot of whiskey. Are you saying that the Albanians took her?” asked Liam.

“What I'm saying, is I need Cian so that we can prevent the Dragons from partnering with Albanians and the Serbians to destroy us. They have already been doing business heavily with Vesim. Their alliance with the Serbians is not as powerful since Arkan treats them like bad but it won’t stop them from banding together to destroy us.”

Mikhail ran his hand through his hair. “The problem with the Dragons was instigated when Cian went into their territory and you killed dozens of their men. You know that the Vietnamese like to hold grudges. Now, they want blood.”

Liam drank his shot. “What is your plan?”

“By giving them Cian, they will demand that he deliver me and that I deliver Viktor. They want to destroy us and take over our territory. With us out of the way, they would attack the alliance next.”

“There's no way I would allow my son to go back there.”

“Yes, you will. This problem has escalated because of him. He's your son, which means that you must honor his actions. Whether they were sanctioned by you or not. I don't have to tell you this because you are not new to being a Don.” Mikhail walked over to the bar and poured himself a drink.

My father's face turned red. I knew that he was on the verge of attacking Mikhail.

“Liam, I have a plan. Cian won't die but we must take care of this problem now.”

“What is your plan other than using my son as bait.”

“We’ll allow them to capture Cian then we will ensure that Pham Cao Phong is taken into custody. We will kill Le Gia Kien. How do you know that the FBI is now hovering and focused on all of us?

“We know.” It cannot be allowed which is why we’re going to give a bigger fish.”

“I could leave the alliance and deal with the FBI on my own.”

Mikhail shrugged. “You could but Viktor values you. He always has and he's been more than fair toward you with respect to alliance business. He's planning to give you half of the Dragons territory in the Czech Republic. If you choose to leave the territory, of course, it will go to the next runner up. Things are already done, so if you want out of the alliance, I need to know now.”

I watched him manipulate my father and I respected him for it. My father was acting like a spoiled brat. His leaving the alliance would only hurt the O’Brien family. Giving him half of the Dragon’s territory was very generous. Everyone who was present knew it.

Mikhail brough the bottle over and poured Liam another shot. “With Pham locked up and Le dead, the FBI will naturally assume Arkan is running the territory, since that is his plan. We will fly right under the radar running the territory, getting richer, while Arkan fights with the FBI.

This is brilliant.
