My lips curved.

“You call your invention shit.”

“This will hurt but you won't feel it.”

I felt the pinprick at my neck and looked at him as he withdrew the syringe.

Viktor cursed. “I know how you feel about being sedated, but you must be still.

We were all on the plane. From what I could see out of the window, we were high in the sky. I leaned back taking a few minutes to savor the fact that I was alive.

“Mikhail, I need you to find Nedim Cejvan. Narrow your search to Urumqi, China.”

Viktor frowned. “You know why Arkan is after him, don't you?”

“Nedim knows that Arkan had Mier extradited to the United States so that he could get in good with the Kadish family.”

“I’m not surprised. Arkan would take any route necessary to get what he wants. He’s addicted to power.”

Viktor sat forward. “Do you have any evidence of that?”

“Nedim is the evidence, which is why Arkan has been looking everywhere for him.”

“Change of plans. I'm going to have to provide a ring of protection around him until I can get him out of China. First thing first, Mila and I are getting married. You need to bring Anya.”

His timing was perfect with everything else. Why can’t he wait to marry her?

“It’s too dangerous to bring Anya there now. I still must get her safely away from Felix. Hell Vik, she doesn’t even know you have Mila. How do you expect me to bring her to your wedding? Can’t you wait until everything is settled to marry Mila?”

He smiled. “No. Carpe Diem. It means tomorrow isn’t promised which is why I’m making her mine now.”

ANYA

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK

I hated that I was nervous but I was. It was crazy that I could brave death, torture, and prison, yet I was afraid to go home. We were currently in an abandoned building located in New Jersey. Someone related to Jayden lived here therefore nothing looked suspicious. Kim was making a traditional Vietnamese breakfast for us. Ethan and Logan were upstairs developing a plan to bust up Arkan’s organ selling business. I knew that they wanted me to get additional evidence from my father, but I had to make sure Mila was safe and execute my revenge. The Feds had enough information to get him on some things, yet they wanted more.

Jayden grabbed my arm. “Although you’re not wearing a wire, we will be monitoring Felix’s activities closely. You have the evidence showing that you didn’t betray him. If all else fails and your life is in danger, run outside. We’ll have people watching the house.”

Tamsyn frowned. “I think you’re getting a little too close to her. She didn’t need to know we would be watching the house. You’re giving her a lot of trust because she gave us some information. He is her father. Her allegiance will be to him.”

I hadn’t forgotten this bitch was happy to put me at risk in prison. When things settle down, all of them would die, except Jayden.

“You’re never satisfied. Tamsyn, I did what you asked and almost got raped and killed. Why don’t you put your life on the line instead of volunteering mine?”

Turning to Jayden, I sighed. “Now, that I have the evidence to give my father, I need one more thing. I need Logan or Ethan to beat me up. I’m talking about two black eyes, a busted lip and a knife wound. I can’t go back home uninjured.”

Kim coughed. “Damn, did you say a knife wound. That’s taking it a bit too far, isn’t it?”

“No, I wasn’t lying about my father. This evidence still might not be enough. I cannot be gone this long and come back uninjured. I need injuries, you should bruise my ribs too.”

Jayden closed his eyes. “I hate this shit. I’m not hitting you. I don’t believe in a man hitting a woman. Logan, Ethan, get down here.”

Within minutes, the two men had run down the stairs. Both frowned but slid their guns back inside the holsters.
