He raised an eyebrow and made a face at me. “You’re the only nanny I’ve ever slept with.”
“Because I was the only one you’ve ever had!” I wailed.
“Okay…” he sighed. “Do you want a popsicle?”
That’s what I’d craved my other two pregnancies. And Luca, bless him, my hormones didn’t faze him.
“Yes,” I sulked quietly.
“Blue or red?”
“One of the red, white and blue ones.”
“Okay.”
“You’re gloating, aren’t you?” I accused.
Luca smirked. “Yes. You know I wore my sexy clothes that night. You can’t resist me in them.”
It was way more than his clothes I couldn’t resist.
The timer went off on his phone. And of course, we were pregnant. From the corner of my eyes, I caught Luca doing a covert fist pump.
“I cannot believe you!” I yelled.
“What?” He pulled me into his arms and cuddled me. “But just think baby… Sex with nothing between you and me for the next sevenish months.”
I smiled evilly up at him. “Just think, baby… Snip. Snip.”
Yeah, I was crabby when I was pregnant. And no, I hadn’t even needed to look at the little stick to know that. By my unmistakable symptoms, I could have guess pretty well without it.
Luca turned me in his arms, standing behind me while we looked into the mirror. His hands drifted to the edge of my sleep shorts. “I love you.”
I caught his wrists. “I love you, too. But the kids are gonna be up in about ten minutes, so don’t get any ideas.”
“Well, Idohave an idea. You get back in bed, and I’ll go take care of the kids this morning. Maybe, we can go out to breakfast later if you’re feeling up to it. I’ll go get you that popsicle, right away, though.”
My almost immediate morning sickness had been what had sent him to the store for that dang test yesterday. I hadn’t even known he’d bought it until he dragged me into the bathroom this morning.
“You know everyone’s going to tease us,” I moaned as he led me back into the bedroom and tucked me into our bed.
“Because we’re so fucking lucky.”
I pulled him down to me for a kiss. “Yeah, we are. We really are.”
