“We should carry weapons.”
“You have bodyguards for that. Though I gotta admit, you are excellent with guns.”
“Yeah, well, shooting ranges, simulation rooms, paintball. Hey! I can be your bodyguard!” She laughs again and slides her arm around my waist.
I swing my arm around her bare shoulder as we walk. My wild thing is more excited about danger than she should be. Adrenalin junkie—I didn’t fully understand the concept until her. Feelings suddenly overwhelm me and I feel… Fuck, I feel proud walking next to her.
Whoa, ladies and gentlemen! The king is officially on his knees.
“So what’s the plan after the restaurant?” she asks.
“Easy there. We didn’t even make it to the party yet. And it’syourfirst party.”
“Yeah, well…”
“Do I hear hesitation?”
“You don’t. I just want to spend more time with you.”
I grin, tightening my arm around her shoulders as we walk. “We don’t have to stay long. My place after that.”
“I was hoping for it.”
“Actually, I want you at my place every night. And day. And morning.”
She lifts her face to look at me.
She’s already at Cliff Villa most of the time, but occasionally goes back to her bungalow, and in those hours, Cliff Villa feels empty.
“I want you to move in with me,” I say.
She narrows her eyes at me as if checking if I’m bluffing. “Are you sure you can handle it?”
“I should be askingyouthat.”
“Arch, I’ll drive you insane. I like decorations and all sorts of things on the walls.” This is not rejection, because her voice is way too excited, and so is her grin.
“I’ll compromise.”
“And plants.”
“Deal.”
“And shelves and pictures of us.” She’s pushing it.
“Sure.”
“And a dog.”
“That’s a no.”
“Archer!” She laughs anyway.
“By the way, I have another present for you.”
“You’ll spoil me rotten.”
