“Enough.” He shakes his head. “I’m done, Sasha. I’m telling you what’s going on right now. You need to stop speaking while I tell you exactly what is going to happen from this moment forward—”

“You are going to tell me what’s going to happen,” I repeat his words, anger consuming me as I force a laugh. “Fuck you!”

“Is that really necessary?”

I remain silent.

“Our deal was that you would pose as my fiancée to my family, and become my Submissive behind closed doors, and you agreed to that. One hundred thousand dollars is on the table right now. My contract did not imply nor state anywhere that we would kiss and sleep in the same bed. You never suggested that you wanted it to be this way between us. That was not part of our deal,” he calmly says, as I stare up at him in disbelief. “Feelings and emotions weren’t a part of our arrangement. I’m finished with that. Do you understand me?”

His eyes stare dangerously into mine, empty, unreadable.

“No, I don’t.”

Jaxon steps closer, breaking any bit of distance between us, our faces mere inches away. “I cannot and will not change who I am for any woman, Sasha, not even for you.”

All the color drains from my face.

“You’re my fake fiancée the moments we are with my family. You are my Submissive andonlymy Submissive while I am yourDom any moments we are behind closed doors. That is all we are to each other. You’ll be a good little girl and comply with the rules of the contract, and I will do my part. If you can’t wrap your head around these conditions, then our arrangement is over.”

My heart hammers forcefully. I can feel it hard in my chest.

“Meaning, I don’t get the money, and I go back home.”

“Yes,” he responds. “I will put our documents through the shredder, place you on my jet, and fly you back to New York. And I will never contact you again.”

Tears threaten my eyes. I fight against them. The pain must be written all over my face, yet his gaze remains cold.

“Tell me what you’re thinking, Sasha.”

“I’m thinking about how I possibly could have seen any good in you, when in all honesty, you have no good in you.”

His jaw clenches tight, twitching, and anger flickers in his eyes. “Yes or no?”

“You need me to pose as your wife-to-be. Don’t act like you don’t.”

“You cheated.”

I gawk up at him, uncertain. “What?”

“All I have to say is that I broke off our engagement, because I caught you in bed with another man.” He straightens his posture and I emotionally gasp.

“You wouldn’t.”

“Oh, but I would.”

His innocent family flashes to my mind, the sight of his heartbroken mother and sisters. I would never in a million years want to do that to any of them, and I can’t even fathom that he would be okay with doing something so horrible.

“You’re awful,” I whisper, looking away.

“I never intended for this to happen. I want everything to go back to when we first met, although I know that’s surely not possible.”

I shake my head. “You’re right. It’s not.”

“I still want you,” he says, moving closer as I move back. “I care for you, Sasha, just not in the way you’d like me to. I’ve been living this lifestyle for years and this is what I want. This is what I need. It doesn’t mean that I don’t still crave you, or want you.”

“I can’t.”

His eyes narrow, and he seems shocked. “You can’t? So, our deal is off?”
