“Are you sure?” I asked.

“Of course,” she said, her tone a little flat. “I don’t need you to be the one to take care of everything for me.”

“But what if I want to?” I asked with a smirk.

She smiled, but there was something about her that felt distant. It wasn’t the first time I had thought so in the past week, and I wondered if I should ask her about it. But I also worried that it was my imagination and anxiety that had me thinking she was being distant. I didn’t want to cause problems if it was all merely imagined on my end.

“I got it,” she said again, finishing the payment. I thanked her, but I was determined to do something on the trip down there to woo her further. I wasn’t about to give up on chasing her just because we were dating. I knew complacency was an all too easy way to lose her altogether.

The conversation flowed easily enough along the drive down to Key West, but I surprised her when I pulled off our route as we were crossing one of the islands.

“Where are we going?” she asked as she looked over to me with raised eyebrows.

“I thought we’d make a bit of a detour,” I told her with a grin. “I hope you don’t mind.”

“No, I just didn’t know we were stopping anywhere. Should I message Erin and let her know we’re going to be a little late?” she asked.

“No,” I said. “It’s not going to take long. But there’s something I think you’d like to see.”

Krissy didn’t say anything, and soon I pulled into a small parking lot off the side of the road. A place I knew about from previous trips to this location, but nothing I would have made any sort of story out of seeing.

“What is this place?” she asked.

“Come with me, and I’ll show you,” I told her with a grin as I flipped the switch to raise the roof of the convertible.

We got out of the car, and I walked her down to the beach. There were small, locally owned and run shops that dotted the shoreline, along with the most beautiful views I’d seen in a long time.

“Oh my gosh,” Krissy breathed. “It’s a good thing I didn’t check this place out closer before moving into my bungalow. It’s stunning and closer to Erin.”

“Don’t get any ideas,” I told her. “I’m showing you this place because it’s amazing, not because I want you to think it’s okay for you to leave me.”

Krissy laughed as she slipped her hand in mine, and I was sure I was being overly anxious about her being distant from me. And I wasn’t going to be an insecure boyfriend. I knew from experience how shitty it was to date someone who was constantly doubting the relationship. I wasn’t going to do that to her.

We waded into the ocean a short distance, and I pointed out to her the bits of coral that had washed up close to shore.

“It breaks off in the storms,” I explained. “And people come into the ocean during lower tides to find it and make things. That’s a lot of what you’re going to find being sold in those shops.”

“That’s crazy,” she said, wonder in her voice. “I’d do the same thing if I was here.”

“I don’t doubt it,” I said with a laugh.

To surprise her, I purchased a necklace made of a beautiful piece of coral. Krissy smiled as I fastened it around her slender neck, and she proudly clutched the little pendant on it all the way back to the car.

“I have something for you, too,” she told me once we were back inside the car.

“What’s that?” I asked. I hadn’t seen her purchase anything.

She looked around, making sure it was just the two of us in the area, then she leaned forward and kissed me. But she didn’t stop at just the kiss. She reached between my legs and took my dick in her hand, gripping me and stroking me until I became hard.

Of course, it never took long for me to get hard with her hand on my cock, and when she leaned down and put her mouth around it, I shuddered.

“Oh baby,” I said. “Really? You’re going to do this right here?”

“Why not?” she asked, only moving her mouth long enough to ask me the question before going right back to pleasuring me.

“Aren’t you afraid someone might see us?” I asked.

“That’s part of the fun,” she told me, stroking me with one hand as she looked up at me with a smirk on her face. “Now relax and enjoy this. You’re talking too much, and I can’t do what I want to do.”
