“Yeah, when I had planned on doing nothing, but if I’d known you’d need me to run an errand I would have been dressed and not set to binge mindless TV.”

I finished working on Corbin’s truck and opened the bay door so I could start it and make sure it ran fine. I parked it out in front at the curb.

“You’re all set,” I told Corbin.

“What do I owe you?”

“Come up front. I’m only charging you for the cost of parts.”

Corbin frowned. “That’s not fair. I want to pay you for your time.”

“I don’t charge friends labor.”

“Listen to him, Doc,” Val cut in. “You won’t get your way. Once Jay sets his mind to something, that’s where it stays.”

I flipped him off. “Why do I keep you around?”

“It’s sure as shit not for my sparkling personality.”

Corbin chuckled but then blushed after realizing he was laughing. Val was oblivious.

We settled the bill and Corbin said he’d be back to have the tires checked in a couple of months. Val waved without a clue the doctor who just left got shy around him.

GREER

“This is so fucking strange,” JJ said from beside me.

We were seated at a six-person table near the stage at Untouchable. There was a candle in the center of the round table, which wasn’t real but gave off the same flickering glow a flame would. Envelopes sat in a small wooden holder, as well as pens for the members to tip the dancers.

Peyton and Perry were here with us. Dominic was backstage getting ready for his dance. He told JJ earlier when he was up there, shaking his ass tonight, it was for him. My brother growled and wrapped an arm around Dominic while Perry shoveled in a spoonful of rocky road ice cream and glared at his lover. All three of them were so damn possessive of each other. It was like they were constantly waiting for someone to try and steal one of them away. I’d say it was a valid concern given what happened to Dominic, but they were like this before that occurred.

“You’ve never seen Dom dance,” Peyton replied.

“Greer said he’s amazing but he’s your boyfriend. I feel weird watching him.”

“You’ve seen his barely covered dick when you’re at the fortress. How is this any different?”

“He wasn’t…” JJ motioned toward the stage. “Gyrating at your house.”

I slipped my arm over JJ’s shoulders. “What’s the matter? Can’t handle hot men in G-strings?”

“If you or Dex want to put one on and give me a show, I’m all for that.”

“There’s a visual I didn’t need,” Peyton muttered.

Drinks were brought to our table. A soda for Peyton since he didn’t drink when he was driving, especially when he had Perry or Dominic in the car. Perry got a scotch on the rocks, no doubt an expensive one since Dexen didn’t serve the cheap labels. I got an IPA. I had zero desire to get drunk and I was driving too. JJ got a soda, not in the mood for more.

The music changed, slowed down, signaling the end of Diesel’s dance.

I leaned toward Perry. “How does it feel now that he works for you, and you just watched him dance?” Diesel worked with Perry’s assistant to help support him. There was too much for his assistant to handle on her own and Perry wanted to get her help. Dominic suggested Diesel since he had prior experience. Diesel worked from home, providing support that way. He didn’t want to be in the office.

Perry shrugged. “He’s not my type. And what he does here is his business.” I understood that. Diesel was one of the most muscular dancers Dexen had, but he moved with such grace when he was on stage.

Dexen stopped at our table and took the seat on the other side of JJ. Dexen gave him a quick kiss then did the same to me.

“It’s still strange,” Perry said. “I’m not used to seeing Dex kiss anyone, let alone Greer and my cousin.”
