Gio really knows how to throw me a curve ball, and somehow, I have to navigate my way around it.

* * *

I pacethe length of Jane’s room, trying to figure out how we’re going to infiltrate the next meeting of these sick fuckers and bring them down when I’ve been invited as a fucking guest. It complicates things, as I sense the auction is going to be in a part of the club that’s off limits. The corruption involved goes much further than just Gio’s and his criminal outfit. It has government ties and that makes it trickier than anything I’ve tried before.

I can’t work out whether being invited to the party, which is no doubt a guise for the auction, is a bad thing or good thing. A wrong move could jeopardize my entire plan to get revenge on the Benedetto family. And yet, I have to do this. How many children is Gio going to get away with hurting before he’s brought to justice?

Jane sits with her back to her desk in her gaming chair, watching me. “So, what are you going to do?”

I shake my head. “I’m thinking.”

She clicks her tongue. “I thought a man like you.” She gives me a once over. “Would have a plan in place already.”

“Being invited to the party complicates everything.” I stop in my tracks. “And what do you mean, a man like me?”

“You look put together, so I assumed you had a plan in place once I got you the information, no matter the circumstances.” Sighing heavily, she turns back to her computer and types on the keyboard. “I guess I misjudged you.”

“Do you realize who I am?” I ask, clenching my fists by my sides.

“Isiah Darcy, criminal boss of the most powerful organization in London.” She glances over her shoulder, grinning. “Yep, I know.”

“How?” I ask, advancing toward her. “I haven’t told you my name.”

“Do you really think that a hacker like me would work with someone without knowing the person’s identity?”

Although I’ve always felt at ease with Jane, I don’t like the fact she knows who I am, even if it’s not my true identity. “No, but tell me how you did it so I can avoid anyone else doing the same.”

She smiles and grabs a cell phone case off her desk. “Put this on your phone and it will block anyone from hacking it.”

I arch a brow. “You hacked my phone?”

She nods. “It was a little too easy for a man like you.”

I swallow hard and take the case, fitting it to my phone. “Do you have any ideas for stopping these bastards?” I ask, nodding at the screen where she’s mapped out everyone involved in the sick and twisted business Gio has his hands in.

“Yes, in fact, I do.”

I perch on the edge of her desk. “Perfect, let me hear it.”

“So, the people running the ring are two senators and Gio Benedetto as far as I can tell. They’re the ringleaders, so to speak.”

I nod in response. “And that helps us how?”

“They each have a bank account dedicated to the business we’re trying to take down. They aren’t in their name, but they are the beneficiaries. I’d say we take all the money in those accounts to start.”

I sigh heavily. “They’ll just replenish it.” Gio is worth billions, so a few million or whatever is in those accounts will be like losing change to him.

“Not if we wire the money back via an illegal source, forcing the bank to put a block on the accounts.”

Jane is smart, I’ll give her that. “That could slow them down, but they have too many contacts. They’ll unfreeze the accounts in hours, most likely.”

She purses her lips. “Fuck.”

“I think it’s going to have to be a more physical approach.”

Her face pales. “I know some guys who could help.” She twirls her fingers in the ends of her hair. “A few of them wouldn’t even want payment if they knew kids were involved.”

“And you trust them?”
