“RAM? That’s what you’d buy?”

She peered up at him. “You can never have too much RAM.”

He laughed. “You’d buy a million dollars’ worth of RAM?”

She wrinkled her nose and scoffed. “No, that’d be silly.”

“You just said, and I quote, ‘You can never have too much RAM.’”

She rolled her eyes. “I was being facetious.”

“Then, you wouldn’t buy RAM?”

“No, I totally would. I need more. But who needs to spend all that money at once? I’d save the rest.” She flashed him a grin.

He chuckled to himself. The wind picked up, and Colton had to clamp his hand down on his wig to keep it from flying off. Before he could tell Remi they were probably going to get that rain Brooke mentioned, the downpour started.

Remi yelped and they ran the rest of the three blocks to the Billionaire Club. By the time they got inside his room, they were both laughing and soaked to the bone.

“You look like you have a wet rat on your head,” she said between fits of giggles.

“It feels like it, too.” He pulled it off and shook it, spraying them both with more water.

“Stop!” she yelled, snatching the wig.

He reached for it, but she pulled her hand back. “No way. This thing has seen its last days.”

“What? You can’t get rid of that. What if I need it again?” He tried to act affronted, but he was laughing too hard for it to work.

“Prepare to say goodbye!” she yelled as she ran to the bathroom.

Colton rushed in behind her. She skidded to a stop and held the dripping mass of gray hair over the toilet bowl.

“Wait!”

“No, I’m sorry. The wig must die.”

He frantically waved his hands. “You’ll clog my toilet. Then I’ll have to call down to the front desk, and they’ll ask questions. It will get messy.” He crept toward her.

“Too bad. Should have thought about that before you—”

Colton grabbed her wrist and pushed her up against the wall. Remi tried to wiggle free, but he had a firm grip. “Drop it,” he said, trying to be serious but a laugh inserted itself into his words.

“Right now?” She lifted one eyebrow.

“Yes.”

“Okay,” she said, letting go of the wig. It fell on his foot with a wet splat.

“Not on my good sandals,” Colton said, kicking it away.

“You said to—”

“I know.” He stared into her cerulean blue eyes and suddenly the situation didn’t seem nearly as silly as it had. She smelled of almonds and summer rain, and the heat from pressing against her seeped into him.

Drops of water clung to her cheeks and lips. He wanted to kiss her so badly. He could still remember how his lips felt sliding across hers. How could he have imagined that Remi could make him feel this way?

He’d always liked Remi, but this was something else. He wanted to be near her all the time. Touching her was electric. He’d never felt this way about anyone before. He was falling hard for her. Maybe even falling in love. The thought startled him, and he jumped back from her.
