Damn, I haven’t had an orgasm that strong in months. If fictional Cash, along with my BOB, can get me off that well, I can’t even imagine what the real man could do. Glancing at the clock, I realize I only have half an hour to get ready. I hop in a quick shower and throw on some jeans and a t-shirt just as I hear the front doorbell.

Carefully making my way down the stairs, some of the boards are missing because they were too warn and I need to replace them. I make it to the front door as he’s about to ring the bell again.

“Hi, you must be Reid. I’m Chayse Wilson.”

“Well hello to you, Chayse. You work at the hospital as a nurse, correct?”

Noting a hint of mischief, I’m a little confused, but decide to answer his question honestly. “Yes, I got your card from my best friend, Landon. Do you know him?”

“Um, no, but my partner does. They are new friends and he told him about his knockout best friend who is also a nurse, has red hair with purple streaks in it and needed help with her house. I just made an assumption that you must be that friend since I can’t imagine there are several gorgeous redhead nurses with purple hair.”

“Ha, yeah, that sounds like something Landon would say. Well, why don’t you come in and check everything out. As you can see, I have a lot of projects started, but not a ton finished. The only two rooms that are complete in the house are the spare bedroom and the bathroom that Landon uses because he’s such a prima donna that he wouldn’t stay if they weren’t done.”

“Ah, between you and CJ, I’m getting the feel that Landon may be a little high maintenance.”

“A little is an understatement. He is very high maintenance, but he is also the most loyal and brutally honest friend I could have. He’s crazy and fun and makes sure I live my life instead of working it away.”

“Damn, sounds like my kind of guy. We can all use a friend like that. Alright, where do you want to start?”

“Let’s just work through the downstairs and then we can head up. So, the living room and dining are in pretty good shape. I was just going to refinish the floors and update the paint. The one pocket door is stuck, so if you guys could get that working, I’d be extremely happy. The kitchen is kind of in shambles at the moment because I planned on doing concrete countertops, but it’s backordered currently.”

“Damn, did you refinish these cabinets?”

“I did. I took all the doors off and sanded and painted them. The floors in here were pretty good so I just added the trim and have subway tiles to do for a backsplash. I just need to get the countertops in so I can get that finished.”

“This is really impressive work, Chayse. Have you ever done a concrete countertop before?”

“Nope. I’ve worked with concrete, but not in this capacity. I’d actually be more than glad to hand that over to you. I was going to make my dad help, but this will be much easier if it’s something you’re capable of doing.”

“Definitely. I love the look of concrete countertops and use them quite often. It’s also a bonus that you already have the materials for the counter and backsplash. It will definitely save you if we don’t have to source the material as well as the labor.”

“Yeah, I guess that’s a plus.” We head through the rest of the downstairs, and I point out some of the updates I’ve already done, and what I’d still like to accomplish. We talk about the mud room, and Reid has a great idea to make it double as a laundry room, so I don’t have to carry everything to the basement.

We head upstairs and I show him the spare room and bathroom I already finished.

“Damn, girl. I know I’ve complimented your skills already, but this bathroom is gorgeous. Did you do all the tile work by yourself?”

“I did some, but my little sister Emerson did the majority of it. She loves inlaying the patterns and really has an eye for the design aspect. Plus, being a mechanic, she’s great with her hands.”

“You ladies sound like a dream team. Too bad you all have your own careers, because we could definitely use you on our crew if all your work is this good.”

Laughing at his comment, I try to deflect his praise, but he doesn’t even give me a chance.

“I mean it. The quality of your work is exceptional. But you do still have quite a bit to do, and I definitely think we could help. If you don’t mind, I’m gonna wander through the house and get a few measurements and then I can give you an estimate. It really shouldn’t be bad, and I’ll probably only need a few guys since you’ve accomplished so much already. I know CJ will be able to get the pocket doors in order and will love refurbishing some of this woodwork. It’s his favorite thing to do when we flip houses.”

“That’s great! I’m just going to get caught up on some laundry. Holler if you can’t find me when you’re done.”

Twenty minutes later, Reid comes into the living room where I’m curled up reading on my kindle. I figured it’s been forever since I lost myself in a book and right now is as good as any.

“Alright, so you’ve got such a good headway, and if I’m getting the right vibe, you’re definitely going to keep on working on some things, so we should be able to get everything done with a two or three man crew in about 5 weeks. We have a few other projects that we will be starting along with yours if you agree to the price.”

Reid hands me an estimate and I am honestly surprised how low it is. I have enough saved that I can cover their renovations without completely wiping out my savings, which is a huge relief.

“We will obviously adjust this if you end up working on anything so that we don’t charge you for work we didn’t do. But like I said, if this looks good for you, we can start as early as Friday if you’re available.”

“Yes, I’d love to hire you. I will be coming off a night shift, but I can never sleep during the next day so that will work. I should be home around 7:30 to let your guys in.”

“That will be perfect. I’ll plan on having someone here around 8:30, then.”
