“Of course. I love breakfast and so does Penny. It’s one of the best things I can cook. We tend to do brinner a lot at our house.”
With a laugh, she steps away to go and pour herself some coffee. I already have the cream sitting out on the counter for her. She shoots a sweet smile my way once she sees it. “What the hell is brinner?” She’s still giggling and it’s the sweetest damn thing I’ve seen in a long time.
“Brinner is breakfast for dinner. You shorten it and you get brinner!”
“Oh my, that’s about one of the bestdadthings you’ve said, yet!”
"Hey, don’t make fun of me! It’s not my fault you’ve never heard of brinner before. It’s a staple in so many people’s lives, not just dads!” Realizing Penny isn’t in the kitchen with us, I turn to see if she’s maybe watching a show in the living room. When I don’t see her, I turn to Chayse to find out what my hellion is doing.
“Where’s Penny?”
“Oh, she’s up in the spare room coloring or maybe playing with blocks. I may have grabbed a few more things that I had stashed in the closet in case she ever came over. I didn’t want her to be bored here. I want her to have fun and want to come back.”
Damn, this woman and her generous heart. She’s so sweet and taking the initiative to make sure my daughter is comfortable is the hottest thing I think I’ve ever seen, especially since her ever present confidence seems to have wavered a bit when she admitted to buying more things for my little girl.
I can’t resist pulling her in for another kiss that quickly becomes heated. It doesn’t help that she has another pair of sexy as sin cut offs on and a tank top that shows off her toned stomach. Chayse has curves in all the right places, but she’s also toned and strong. The combination drives me fucking wild.
I’m just about to pick her up and put on the counter so I can deepen the kiss when I hear Penny.
“Daddy! Chayse! My belly is sooooo grumbly. Can I come eat some food now? It smells really yummy.”
“Be right there, squirt!” Chayse untangles herself from my arms and heads upstairs to get my girl. I pull the rest of the food off the griddle and start making plates for each of us.
I stop dead in my tracks when Penny and Chayse step into the kitchen in identical outfits, minus Penny’s tank top showing off her stomach. I know those aren’t clothes that I bought for my daughter.
When I turn to Chayse, she’s trying to avoid my eyes. I gently lift her chin so that she’s looking me straight in the face. She’s nibbling on her lip which makes my already growing cock harden to its fullest.
“I love Penny’s outfit. Where did it come from?” She tries to squirm out of my grasp, but there’s no way I’m letting her get away.
“Well, she really liked my cut offs the last time I wore them, and I saw a pair on clearance when I was out shopping the other day. I couldn’t NOT get them for her, so I snagged a few pairs and some shirts that were also on sale. I figured I’d give them to you the next time I saw you guys, but I didn’t realize we’d need to put them to use already.”
“Chayse, you don’t have to buy her love, she already adores you.”
“I know I don’t, and I swear that’s not what I was trying to do. I just thought she’d look really fucking cute in a pair of cut offs. I couldn’t resist!”
Fuck this woman is going to be the death of me with how fucking sweet she is. I give her a chaste kiss before I swat her ass to get her moving. “You’re right. She’s fucking adorable in that outfit. Thank you for thinking of my girl. Now let’s go eat. I’m starved!”
Breakfast is filled with lots of laughter and delicious food. I didn’t realize how much I craved this type of “normalcy” until now. Unfortunately, we both have things we need to get done since it’s the weekend and we have the day off.
It’s been four days since I’ve seen Chayse for more than five minutes and I’m starting to get antsy. Our schedules haven’t lined up and she’s ended up picking up extra shifts to fill in for a nurse who is a single mom and had a sick kid. I get that her job is important, but I fucking miss my girl. Penny’s also been driving me nuts about getting to see Chayse again.
Thankfully, today is the day that Penny’s cast is coming off and I finally broke down and told her Landon was going to meet us at the office, so she’s let up about missing Chayse. At least, for the next five minutes until she’s driving me nuts wondering when we’re leaving so that she can see her Lando.
“Pen, why don’t you go grab your things and maybe we can leave a little early and try and take a surprise to Chayse since she’s working, and we’ll already be at the hospital?”
“Yay! That’s the bestest idea EVER, Daddy! What do you think we should get her? Do you think she wants pretty flowers?”
“Hmm, as much as I think she would love flowers from you, I don’t know if she has anywhere to put them at work. What if we take her a coffee?” I can’t help but laugh at the look of disgust on my daughter's face. The girl just doesn’t understand the lifeblood that is coffee.
“If you think Chayse will like that, I spose that’s okay. Are we picking Lando up?”
“I do think she’d like that. No, he’s going to meet us there. Go get your shoes on. I got to go grab your bag and then I will meet you at the door and we can head out.”
“Okay!” Penny zooms away on that fucking scooter that I am going to be so damn glad to be rid of in a few short hours. What Penny doesn’t know is that Landon is going to take her swimming after the cast comes off. I have already been in touch with her PT who thinks that it’s a great idea to help strengthen her leg muscles. We will still need to go in once a week for a few weeks to do some other exercises, but I know she’s going to love swimming with Landon.
We get to the hospital, and thankfully the ER isn’t too busy. Landon met us in the parking lot to help navigate through the hallways that are like a never ending maze. We round the corner and I hear one of the sweetest voices.
Chayse is standing halfway down the hall talking to a doctor. Her back is toward us and Penny hasn’t noticed her yet. She’s too busy talking Landon’s ear off. We keep making our way down the hall and I can start to make out their conversation.
