“Thank fuck.” I slam my mouth over her in an all-consuming kiss. It’s frantic and needy, but it’s even more than every other kiss that came before this one. I pull back before turning and setting her on the rock. I hoist myself out and pick her up before scooting her back towards the blanket and laying her out beneath me.

“I’m yours, Spencer, in any way that you’ll take me. I want you, but I want all of you. This isn’t fake and hasn’t been from the beginning.” Her eyes fill with tears as the most stunning smile graces her face. She kisses me sweetly and I can’t help but lean all the way into her and the kiss.

“I need you, Mav. Now.”

“Me too, Sweets, but I don’t have a condom. I didn’t think we’d need one because of the rules.”

“I’m on birth control and am clean if you are. I got tested after Brant.”

“I’m clean, too, and you are the last person I’ve been with. I was tested before we were together last time. So, if you’re sure…” I trail off because she’s grinding up into me and my control is hanging on by a thread.

“Yes. Now Maverick. I need you.”

She doesn’t even get the words out before I’m sliding into her. I try going slow so that I don’t hurt her, but she grabs my ass and thrusts up and my control is gone. I’ve never been bare in someone before, and the fact that it is Spencer, only makes me that much closer to coming. I slide my hand between us and flick her clit and immediately feel her walls start to pulse around me.

“So close baby. Mav!” She goes off like a rocket and my orgasm slams through me taking me completely off guard. I come so hard that I black out and take a minute to come to. I’m lying on Spencer on a hard rock and immediately roll us so that I’m not hurting her more than I probably am. She snuggles in closer, and we just soak up the warm sun on our skin as we both calm down.

“Thank you for trusting me to do that.” Spencer hums but doesn’t seem ready to move.

We spend another hour laying on the rock talking and playing in the water before getting dressed and heading back down the mountain. It’s much easier on the way down so we walk hand in hand and talk about everything and nothing. It’s the best fucking day I’ve had in years and it’s all because of Spencer.

We make it back to my truck and to Spencer’s house before I’m ready to say goodbye, but we’re both fucking exhausted. As much as I want to go in and stay the night with her, I want to do this dating thing right and not rush it. I walk her to the door and kiss the life out of her before heading home to get some food and some sleep. Tomorrow she’ll be back to work but I’m hoping that if I can’t see her, I’ll be able to sooner rather than later. With the day replaying in my mind, it doesn’t take me long before I pass out dreaming of my beautiful girl.

Chapter Thirteen

Spencer

Thenextweekgoesby in a blur. Between Maverick and Olive’s schedule, I don’t really get to spend much time with him. He’s still finding ways each day to show me he’s thinking of me whether it’s a sweet text or a surprise lunch that he hand delivers. Thankfully that went way better since we didn’t run into Aileen this time.

Because his schedule was so crazy, and he shouldn’t be the only one putting in the extra effort, I decided to surprise him at the bar Thursday night. I was a little relieved to see him behind the bar and not back in the kitchen. He usually flips back and forth between both, but tonight was my lucky night and I knew I would be able to at least spend a little time with him in between him waiting on his patrons.

His back is towards me, so I slide into an empty seat on the end of the bar. There’s nobody else here so we’ll at least be able to have a little privacy. Well, at least as much privacy as you can have sitting at a bar at the most popular joint in the small town you live in.

When he turns, his face lights up and his gorgeous smile that he reserves for me makes me melt into my seat as I feel my own smile splitting my face. His smile turns into a smirk, and I feel heat rise to my cheeks. We may have not spent a lot of time together physically, but I know exactly what he’s thinking as he slowly checks me out from my head down to my toes. I can’t help the shiver that runs up my spine as he chuckles because he knows exactly what he’s doing to me.

“Well if you aren’t the sweetest sight I’ve seen in days.” He leans across the bar shoving his fingers into my hair at the nape of my neck and tilting my head to the exact position he wants before devouring me. It takes everything in me not to crawl across the bar and latch onto him.

Before I’m ready, he pulls away, proud as hell for leaving me a wanting mess for all to see. I should be embarrassed by the less than appropriate kiss, but I really could care less. Sure, it’s not necessarily kindergarten teacher appropriate, but I’m not at school and I’ve missed him so much.

“Right back at ya, handsome. I missed you and figured I could be the one to surprise you for once.”

“Well, you definitely surprised me and I’m so glad you came in to see me. Do you want a drink?”

“Can I just get a sweet tea? I forgot how long it takes to build up my endurance to deal with my tiny humans without wanting to go home and immediately pass out from the exhaustion of keeping up with them and on task. If I had any alcohol, I’d probably fall asleep on your bar.”

“Hmm, well I can’t have that happening. Did you eat dinner yet? Want me to grab you something from the kitchen.”

“Yes, that would be wonderful. I got caught up prepping for a project with the kids and didn’t get a chance to eat so I’m starving.”

“Okay, you want anything specifically?”

“Nope, surprise me. I trust you.”

We both pause at my use of that word, but after taking a minute to digest it, I realize it’s true. He slowly smiles before leaning over and giving me a quick kiss.

“I’m gonna go put your order in and check on the rest of my patrons. Be back in a few with your sweet tea.” He leans over and snags another kiss, making me melt all over again.

Without Maverick right in front of me, I realize even though what Brant did to me hurt and made me a little wary about trusting someone again, I find that I do trust Maverick. He hasn’t given me any reason not to. In fact, he followed all of my rules and respected my boundaries I set for our arrangement and never crossed the line until I made the first move.
