As we danced, I could feel the heat of his body pressed against mine, his breath hot against my neck. Every move, every step, was a seduction, a promise of things to come. I knew I was in over my head, that this Fae male was going to be my undoing, but I didn't care. I was willing to risk everything for this moment, this feeling, this overwhelming desire that threatened to consume me whole.

The midnight blue gossamer layers of my dress swished around our feet as the next song began. The crystal studded bodice was suddenly too tight as I struggled to breathe. But he doesn't miss a step, he doesn't falter. Guiding me across the floor. The onlookers paused their conversations to watch. Being this close, I could see the way his muscles contracted with each movement, his pulse quickening under my stare.

Still, he pulls me in closer, whispering in my ear, “What is it you want Serra, what do you desire most?”

Shivers run down my back at the caress of his breath on my skin, his closeness. The scent of him washing over me. If I could hold onto this moment, forever, I would. My heart sighed in happiness, my dreams coming true.

My wishes had been granted. My heart was full, at this moment I felt complete. At this moment, I wanted for nothing. The way he made me feel. The way he looked at me, with longing and desire. The love that I had longed for. I realized what it was I truly wanted. Who I wanted. He was the Goblin King and I wanted. . . him.

I wanted him.

I wanted everything.

If anything in my life felt right, it was this. I was so sure of it. “I. . .”

The weight of his hand on my back felt like an anchor, grounding me in the moment. I gazed up into his eyes, once sparkling with mischief, now clouded with sadness. His gaze bore into mine, searching for something that I couldn't name. The shadows at his feet twisted and coiled like restless serpents, a reflection of the uncertainty that gnawed at my heart.

I opened my mouth to answer, to give voice to the truth that lay buried deep within me, but the words caught in my throat. What did I really want? The question echoed in my mind, a taunting reminder of the indecision that had plagued me for so long. I looked up at him, searching for answers in the depths of his piercing gaze, but all I found was a reflection of my own uncertainty.

For a moment, we stood there in silence, the weight of our unspoken desires hanging heavy in the air. The shadows at his feet seemed to grow darker, a mirror of the doubts that clouded my mind. And yet, despite the uncertainty that lay between us, I knew that if anything in my life felt right, it was this.

“You could have everything. I can give you your dreams. I can give you everything you could ask for. I will give you the world if that is what you seek.” he mutters, just barely audible. Resting his forehead against mine. I could feel the weight of his words, the weight of the world pressing down on us. His offer was tempting, the idea of having everything I had ever wanted.

But at what cost? What was the price I would have to pay for this? Could I really trust him? Did I want to be tied to the Goblin King for eternity? The questions swirled in my mind, a whirlwind of doubt and fear.

But as I looked into his eyes, I saw something there that made me pause. Something that told me that he truly cared for me. That he was willing to do anything to make me happy. And maybe, just maybe, that was enough for me.

“Everything?” I whispered, my voice barely audible above the din of the ballroom.

“Everything,” he repeated, his eyes never leaving mine.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to gather my thoughts. When I opened them again, I looked up at him, my decision made.

“Then I want you,” I said, my voice strong and sure.

There is a soft tug at the corners of his lips, his reply was easy, “You already have me, Serra,”

My heart fluttered, a feeling of completeness as his words sunk in. His features shifted though sending a wave of hesitation through me.

“I have to tell you something.”

“What is it?”

I gazed up into his eyes, sensing the sorrow and turmoil within him. His breaths were shallow and labored, as though he were struggling to contain his inner demons. The pain and guilt etched on his face spoke volumes.

It was clear that he was keeping something from me.

After a moment of silence, he spoke again. “You didn't need to make a wish, Serra,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

I was taken aback, it was not what I expected him to say. “What do you mean? I don't understand,” I asked, my brow furrowed in confusion.

“You didn't need to make a wish for me to come for you. I'd always find you,” he confessed.

I was even more puzzled than before, “Come for me? What are you talking about?”

He scanned my face, his gaze shifting between my eyes and the bustling ballroom around us. There was a heaviness in his expression, a burden he carried. After a moment, his eyes returned to mine, filled with both sorrow and determination. A deep breath escaped his lips, carrying his words to me like a gentle breeze that stirred my emotions.

“I'm sorry,” he whispered, his voice a delicate thread that tugged at the strings of my heart.
