“Good.”

Sabrina wrapped her arms around her legs and rested her forehead on her knees, ending the conversation.

Chapter26

It wasthe third hotel Will entered where a flicker of fear crossed the concierge’s face at the mention of Antonio Delgado.

“I’m sorry,Señor. I’ve never heard of the man.”

“Thanks for your help,” Will said and went outside where Peter was waiting. “This is the place.”

“Let’s not waste any time.”

“Do you want to cause a distraction or should I?”

Peter rubbed his hands together vigorously. “I’d love to. I haven’t had an opportunity like this in ages.” He stretched his shoulders. “You ready?”

Will nodded, and Peter stormed into the building, stomping to the other side of the room. “This is outrageous!” he roared. “What kind of establishment is this?!”

Several staff members, including the concierge, hurried toward him as guests looked on.

Will hurried inside and squeezed behind the desk, sitting low while he searched on the computer for Antonio’s name.

Once he knew the room, he made a beeline for the elevators, nodding at Peter, who was flailing his arms.

“If it’s not one thing, it’s another with you guys!” Peter yelled. “But you know what?” His voice softened. “I like this place. I’ve decided to forgive this one indiscretion, but don’t ever let it happen again.”

“No,Señor,” the concierge said. “I trust you will enjoy the rest of your stay.”

“If not, you’ll hear from me.” Peter put a hand to his forehead. “I have a headache. I’m going to go lie down for a few hours, and I don’t want to be disturbed. See to it that you don’t disturb me. Do you understand?”

“Sí, Señor.”

“Excellent. I won’t give you any more trouble if you leave me alone.”

“Sí, Señor.”

Peter strolled up to Will with a big grin on his face. “How was I?”

“A little over the top, if I’m honest.”

“There’s no point if you don’t have a little fun with it. Besides, it worked a treat. You got Antonio’s room, I take it?”

“Seventh floor. He will probably have guards on the door and will definitely have them in the room,” Will said as the elevator rose.

“Any idea how many?”

“If it were me, I’d have two inside the room and two outside.”

“That’s what I was thinking.”

The hall was clear when they stepped onto the floor. “Wait here,” Will said. “I’ll check.”

He took a peek around the corner, then nodded to Peter when he returned. “Yup. Two.”

Peter picked up a slim vase that sat on a glass table in the hall. “You ready for another distraction?”

Will scooted back up the hall and waited at the corner while Peter hefted the vase as though to test its weight, then threw it at the wall. “Oops,” he said, looking at the pieces covering the floor. “I hope that wasn’t expensive.”
