“How would a girl be impressed by you not knowing me?”
“Wouldn’t want her to get jealous.”
He smiled. “Good point. I’ll keep that in mind if I ever bring a date to this office. But no, it’s for work. I don’t want her to know Tony’s a friend of mine.”
“Why?”
“Top secret.”
She gave him a look like she didn’t believe him, then said, “Okay, I’ll do it.”
“Thanks.”
She winked, then picked up the phone to call Tony.

“I hope you didn’t come all the way down here to tell me my tip didn’t pan out for you,” said a tall, grey-haired man to Will when he stepped off the elevator. “Or maybe it did? Either way, I made it clear it was weak.”
“Did you not get my text?”
“Sure I got it. But I was worried you were using a favor as an excuse to come down here. Why not call? There’s a reason for your visit.”
“You don’t want to see me?” Will grinned.
“Not if you’re here to tell me off.”
“Maybe I missed your face.”
Tony snickered. “Then why don’t you step into my office? There’s better lighting in there.” He waved his hand and headed down the hall to his corner office with sweeping views of the city.
“Have a seat. Drink?”
“No, thanks.” Will sat and waited for Tony to do the same.
“So, you’re not here to berate me?”
“You told me it was a longshot. And I did get something, but it wasn’t what I wanted.”
“Bad news?”
“Good and bad. It sounds like there is a possibility that Kelly is still alive, but Marie said, if she was part of that group, then she went willingly.”
“Marie, huh? You probably can’t take her at her word.”
“I don’t have a choice. She gave me more than I had before.”
“Did she tell you where Kelly went?”
“All she knew was South America.”
“That’s a big area.”
“Yes, it is. But it’s something. Now you know, if you hear anything from down there, you should pay more attention.”
“And what about your other job? You said Maddy’s injured, but I didn’t ask how that affected your current operation.”
“That’s actually why I came to see you. It’s what the favor is about.”
