Once they sat them down and secured them, Sonny and Gage exited, locked the door, and headed to the right, the room where Avery was located. As soon as Sonny entered, he knew she was gone.

His Hellion had escaped.

SONNY

“You guys did good tonight, Sonny,” Gage declared.

Sonny nodded. “You want to stick around, or do you prefer to watch from the feed?”

“I’ll watch.”

“What about Avery? Where is she? My phone pinged when we were on our way back.”

Gage held up his phone. It was a picture of Avery leaving the bunker, giving him the middle finger. How the hell had she gotten out?

“I should’ve known better. The tracker on her phone says she’s somewhere on the compound. Probably back at her cottage. I don’t think she’ll take off at three in the morning. She’s brave, not stupid,” Gage replied.

“You’re right. And she was too. Trying to keep her locked up was a bad idea.”

“Yeah,” Gage admitted. “I guess I let my fear take over. But I want you to shadow her every move from here on out, you hear?”

“I can do that. How’d the trip to Canmore go?”

“We watched the warehouse on Slater Street for over three hours. Death Riders were hauling pallets in, looked like gun crates. They’ve got a shit ton of security - cameras everywhere, high fencing, you name it. We can attempt a break in to confirm what they’re stockpiling, but it’s risky.”

“Let’s see what we can get out of these guys first.”

Gage shook his head. “They ain’t gonna talk.”

Most bikers would rather die than rat out their own.

“We’ll see about that. Not everyone has the same tolerance for pain, and you know how much I enjoy that part.” Sonny paused. “We need to know how they knew about the location of our gun storage. And why Avery is suddenly fair game. And if my session with them yields nothing, we can still use them as leverage.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

After grabbing an electrolyte drink, Sonny stepped back into the room with theiresteemed guests. He didn’t remove the black canvas covering their heads. Not yet. Maybe when he started cutting, so they could not only feel, but see what was happening to them. He wanted to test their limits. To see who would break first. And one of them would. Sonny wouldn’t hesitate to use every means necessary to get what he needed from them.

Hawk was the skinnier one, the one who’d been shot in the leg. Xander had nicked his ankle and there was still blood oozing through his jeans. A bullet grazing a bone was painful as hell.

Sonny walked over to a cabinet and withdrew a brown bottle. Yanking up the guy’s jeans, he removed his boots and socks. He uncapped the bottle and poured a small amount of liquid on the wound. The blood bubbled up and his skin began to peel.

“Jesus fucking Christ!” Hawk yelled out as the acid burned through the broken skin to the bone below. The other one, Darren, shifted in his chair, his legs twitching.

“Tell me how Ray found our stash?” Sonny asked calmly.

“I don’t know who that is!” Hawk panted, his body rigid, his deep inhales and exhales making the bag over his head cling to the angles of his face.

“The fuck you don’t,” Sonny bit out as he poured more acid on Hawk’s leg.

The man’s screams rang out, shrill and caustic.

“Tell me.”

“Can’t,” Hawk whispered as his head fell back, his body twitching. Sonny stood back up and pulled out his knife.

“Can’t or won’t?” He paused and leaned down to whisper in Hawk’s ear. “Let me tell you what I’m going to do next so you can get a good visual in your mind. I’m taking my favorite hunting knife and I’m going to slice off one of your toes. And I’m going to keep cutting away at a different piece of your body until you talk.”
