"What do you care about?" Rowan asked.

What had driven Cyrus into showing up at her work?

"The stock shares. We need them, damn you, and Lysander is negotiating a deal for them with a rival."

"I know. I asked him to."

"You didn't even want them," Cyrus snarled. "You were going to waive all benefits from the prenup to get out of our marriage."

"I am aware." The judge had refused to allow it.

"So, sign them over to me now."

"No."

"What the hell do you mean? No?"

"I mean, you tried to take the man I love from me with a lie, just like all the lies you told while we were married."

If Cyrus had told the truth, Rowan would have divorced him long ago and would already be married to Lysander. They'd been connected from that first meeting and only her useless marriage had kept them apart.

"I need those stocks."

"Why?" she asked, only mildly curious.

"None of your business."

"Really? That's the way you want to play it when you're asking me for something?"

"We're trying to merge with another European company. I need those shares to meet the percentage vested requirement." Cyrus tried to look at her appealingly. "The merger is worth hundreds of millions to Andino Enterprises."

Like she cared. She'd been bartered for the good of that company and her father's, even though she thought she'd been getting married for the sake of love.

Rowan knew what love felt like now and was sad for her younger self that she'd been so easily fooled.

"That makes a lot more sense than you wanting to get back together when you never cared about our marriage to begin with."

"I need those shares, Rowan."

"Itreallysucks to be you."

"Get the hell out of my fiancée's office." Lysander was practically breathing fire.

Cyrus spun to face Lysander. "You're going to bankrupt us!" he accused. "Your own father's company."

"Did you think I would let you get away with trying to take Rowan away? You did not succeed and that is the only reason you're still breathing." Lysander's chilling tone probably terrified Cyrus.

It turned Rowan on to have all the fury focused on the idea of losing her though.

"Are you threatening to kill me?" Cyrus asked with disbelief.

"No. I am telling you what would have happened if the woman I love left me because of your lies."

"I just wanted the shares," Cyrus whined.

"Then you should have offered to buy them."

"I'll buy them now. I'll pay you twice what they are worth," he said to Rowan.
