"I might be a little uptight about where things go."

"A little?" she teased.

"I admit that the purse wasn't the problem."

"Oh no?"

He kissed her softly and then shook his head. "No."

"Care to share?"

"You know."

"You didn't want to go to Japan without me."

"I didn't want to go to Japan without you," he agreed.

"Next time, lets focus on the real issue."

"I thought you didn't want to come, that you were getting tired of me."

"Funny, that's what I thought when you stopped working from home at all and I saw more of your staff than you."

He cupped her cheek. "I will never get tired of you."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"That sounds suspiciously like a long-term commitment." She tried to tease, but her voice got all choked and Rowan had to blink back tears.

His answer was a prolonged, tender kiss, but when it started to turn hot and heavy, he pulled back and sat up against the headboard. "As much as I want you, we need to talk."

Rowan climbed into his lap, her knees on either side of his hips. "Maybe you shouldn't have come to bed naked then."

"I don't want any barriers between us."

That he was talking about things more important than clothing did not escape her.

"What do you want to talk about?" she asked.

There were more words she wanted to say, but for some reason they weren't popping out of her mouth like she'd expected them to.

"The recording."

"Adele overplayed her hand for sure," Rowan opined. "She was so sure I would believe her."

"I don't care about Adele."

"You don't?" Rowan asked. "What do you care about?"

"Ask mewho."

"Who…" She had to clear her throat and take a deep breath before she got the words out. "Who do you care about?"

"You.Agape mou."

He'd never called her that before. It could be as innocuous as sweetheart, but in the right context, it meant,my love. Was this the right context?
