"I care about you too." It wasn't all she wanted to say, but it was true.

"I know. You offer a loyalty that goes to the depths of your soul. You did not doubt me for even a second. You turned your recording app on immediately. You never once wavered."

"Of course not. You might be a workaholic and seriously grumpy about where I choose to leave my handbag for the next morning, but you would never lie to me."

Lysander sat up against the headboard, pulling her with him. "About the workaholic thing."

"Are you going to try to deny it?"

"No."

"I don't like the way things have been since we got back from Mexico." She wasn't dumping him because he worked long hours, but she wasn't pretending to be okay with it either.

"I didn't either."

She just looked at him.

"Yes, I know. It was my fault. I was trying to prove something to myself."

"What?"

"When you first moved in, it was easy to curtail my work schedule. I assumed our relationship would burn out quickly, especially if we lived together."

She'd half suspected as much, so she should not be surprised. Or hurt. She was both.

"I guess it worked." Rowan went to slide off his lap.

Lysander held her in place with firm hands on her thighs. "No,agape mou. Stay."

There was that endearment again. That little buoy in her heart bobbed, reminding her that he'd left an important business deal in Japan to come home when he thought he'd lost her.

"It did not work. In fact, the opposite happened. Having you here only made me crave you more. Not just in bed, though I will never get my fill of your sexy body."

The erection pressing up between them gave credence to this claim.

"Every minute we spend together is precious to me and only makes me want more minutes, hours, days, weeks…" He shook his head. "Just more. Since we returned from Mexico, I have tried to prove to myself nothing had changed for me."

Did that mean thingshadchanged for him? She loved this man and if she wasn't deluding herself, he loved her too.

"Nothing about our relationship fit what I believed about myself. I have never been a jealous lover, but the idea of another man so much as looking at you makes me livid."

"You demanded monogamy though."

"Yes, and had no twinge of feeling if my sex partner decided to move on before I did."

"You wouldn't have let me go so easily." Hehadn'tlet her go. He'd fought for the one night to become something more and for that more to become them living together.

"When the threats escalated and you were mentioned, I should have sent you away while I dealt with the problem—"

"Like that would have worked. I'm not going anywhere."

He grimaced. "I am aware of how stubborn you can be."

"Good. I wouldn't want you to be misled by my usually sweet nature."

He kissed her again, tasting her mouth for long minutes before pulling his head back. "You are sweet, yineka mou. Everywhere."

Her face heated with a blush, which felt silly because how many times had they made love? How many times had they explored each other's bodies thoroughly? She was sitting naked with him in bed and memories of why he called herglikia mouhad her squirming.
