“Ax, I’m being honest. If for some reason, this is a shot at me, or at you, who may I add is not really high on Artemis’ friend list, we have leverage. What if she takes Duke who is a shot at both of us?”

That was all she had to hear.

SOLD.

“I’ll get her. BUT…now I know why Gabe wanted you in that job. You’re ruthless.”

“Oh, well, I learned from you, Mom. I didn’t fall into this crazy all on my own. I had supporting characters who were just as wonky as me.”

She snorted.

“I’ll make it happen. That’s your only favor today. Keep it in mind.”

Yeah, about that.

“Well, actually…”

She laughed.

“What now, LaRue? Do you want my firstborn and her sister too?”

“Is that an option?” she joked.

“Be serious.”

Well, if that’s what she wanted.

She told her.

“I need a shit ton of weapons, body armor, and tactical gear. I’m talking the good shit. The stuff that the CIA hoards and uses on operations that no one knows about. I need you to raid the CIA boss’s stash. Rob Bob blind for all I care. We owe him one anyway.”

She snorted.

“Sounds good. Deal.”

“I also have some guns stashed that a certain Russian mercenary in Boston hooked me up with. I need you to get them here from a safe house…”

“You have guns stashed at a safe house?”

“You don’t? Do you know what we do for a living?” she asked.

That made her laugh.

“Okay, consider it done. Send me the details. We’ll fly them in ASAP. You can have them in less than three hours if it’s nearby.”

It was.

In fact, she had a shit ton of tech there too.

Yeah, this worked for her.

“And lastly…”

“Elizabeth Renee LaRue Leonard-Whitefox-Blackhawk. You’re pushing your luck with me. I’m your sister-in-law, and that only gets you so far.”

She found her amusing.

“Seriously. Last thing.”
