“They are too bulky. The miscreants will know I’m wearing. That risks me. I’m good. I’ll disappear.”

It was his job, so Remmy knew best.

Only, Maura had that bad feeling too. The Russian wanted their heads on a platter and the best way to get that was by using leverage.

She’d run the statistics, and that seemed to be the direction this appeared to be heading.

“Be safe.”

“Will do, Major,” he said.

Pulling up his hood, he headed out.

As he ghosted out of there, they didn’t bust his balls. They knew he liked working alone most of the time anyway. Remmy liked to creep.

“We got this on our own,” Jinx reassured. “We can handle it.”

Rogue was staring at his wife.

“Uh, Honey?”

She kissed him before he could say anything ridiculous that got him hurt.

“I got this, Babe. It’s a walk in the park.”

Yeah, that was a park he didn’t want her going to, but he was married to a Snake.

They did all the dangerous things.

From where she sat, Maura was fine with just the two of them heading out.

They knew how to disappear.

“Okay, but I want you to stay in contact, especially if you get anything. If you get more names, we’ll assess the situation. I want to keep Artemis guessing if she’s watching us. We hit fast, and we get out like a Marine.”

They were good with that.

That was how they worked most of the time.

“Uh, I’ll go with the ladies,” Dakota said. “Maybe they need a third person.”

Maura shook her head.

“You’re staying until the next round. Trust me, the Snakes don’t need your help. If anything, you’ll slow them down.”

“HEY!” he said, protesting.

Only, she wasn’t wrong. Eve just didn’t want to say it to his face. Dakota meant well, but he stood out.

She and Mamba…

They disappeared.

Eve gave him a kiss.

“We’ll be good,” she said, meaning his child. “You can relax.”

Well, what choice did he have?
