T hey were waiting for the team to hit the next location, and that meant she had some time to handle other things that were going on in her family. Worrying about them was also on her plate, and making sure they were good was a priority.
Truth be told, Maura was worried about her husband. He’d gone upstairs as they were handling the apartment assault, disappearing.
That wasn’t like him.
So, the hunt was on.
When she headed upstairs to check on Gamble, to make sure he was okay, she found him sleeping in his room, his body shaking in some nightmare.
After she woke and comforted him until he was back to being calm, she had to keep hunting for Jagger.
If he wasn’t in Chartres, he was tucked away in their home hidden next door.
That likely meant he was checking on their children.
Entering from the secret access, she found Marsha in the kitchen, making dinner for the kids. Dianna was in her chair, and Violet was cuddling Michael not far away.
As soon as she walked in, Violet grinned and greeted her.
“He’s going to have so much red hair,” she said, playing with it. “He’s cute.”
Oh, she happened to think so.
“He’s his father’s son,” she admitted, giving Dianna a kiss and blowing raspberries on her cheek.
