He rattled off a dummy account he’d set up in the Cayman Islands that he dumped money in, and then filtered through about ten other Swiss bank accounts.
No one could find it, including her.
When he heard his other phone chime, he knew she’d made the deposit.
“Are we good?”
“Yes.”
“Attached to that account is a phone number for you to text me when you have them. Again, I need them alive. Are we clear?”
“Mmmmhmmm. Location?”
She hesitated.
“I said…”
He cut her off.
“No deal then. I need to make sure this isn’t a trap. I don’t know you. What if you’re looking for me? What if this is one of those fucking Hunters or Z? I’m not stupid.”
Oh, the irony.
She laughed.
“Good point. I like when a mercenary is careful. Like I said, you came recommended. Here is the place I want them dropped tomorrow. Research all you want. When you enter the building with them, I’ll see it on the camera, and you’ll get the other half.”
That told him the location had some good tech. That meant they’d have to handle that too. Maura was going to want to visit the location.
Call it a hunch.
“Deal.”
She rattled off the address.
Someone was getting sloppy in her old age, and he didn’t think she realized at all who he was. So, his cover was still good.
“If you handle this one, I might have a new client for you. There’s a Russian gentleman coming, who is going to be bringing business to the city.”
Lewis had done MANY operations in Russia under the KGB’s nose.
He wasn’t fond of any of them.
Russians could turn on a dime, and they were masters at being effective double agents.
“Be in touch,” she said.
“I will.”
Then, the call went dead, as he scribbled down the address. Life was funny. Here he was, just minding his own business, and he caught something good.
He needed to get this information to the Major.
As he was packing up his gun, he saw something that piqued his interest.
There were two women moving down the street, heading to the location of the house he was watching.
