“She got them?” Dakota asked.

God.

She hoped not.

Unless they escaped.

“We have three bodies outside this van, all dead, and not in a good way. There’s blood everywhere and on a crowbar not far away. We’re going to track the droplets to see if we can find it, and then go into the warehouse. Get there and update me as quickly as you can, and if you need backup, call Elizabeth. We’ll never get back to you in time. We’re outside the city limits.”

That worked for them.

Rogue and Dakota pulled on vests just in case.

Then, they were gone.

“Jagger and Adder, follow that blood,” she said, pointing to the droplets leading away from the van. “If that’s Remington’s or Calyx’s blood, someone is hurt.”

Mamba shook her head.

“It had to be dire for them to go into the swamp bleeding. That’s a death sentence.”

“Yeah, I know. Only, staying here was one too. Artemis would take Calyx apart in front of Remmy. He likely had no choice in the matter.”

They understood, and did as she asked.

Because they had to keep going, she jumped down, and they headed toward the warehouse.

“I don’t think this is going to be a trap. I don’t think that Artemis knows anything has gone on here. YET. She will, so we need to keep moving.”

That made her curious.

“MATE, you said all cameras are looping. Are there outside cameras?”

The system scanned through the box she had in her hand.

“No. Inside, you have twenty-four cameras. Three trip wires, and a few traps.”

Good to know.

Artemis wasn’t going to let anyone suspect that this building was anything but a warehouse.

She stayed low-key and likely for a reason.

When she saw Jagger and Adder jogging back over, she waited.

“You were right. The droplets lead into the swamp and the water.”

Shit.

“We need confirmation that what we suspect is right. If we get it, we’re going to have to go in for them.”

They all knew it.

At night.

In the dark?

Yeah, that wasn’t going to be fun.
