“Holy fuck,” Jagger said, not believing what he was seeing.
Maura put two and two together.
“She was going to bring him in here, chain him down, and…torture him.”
Jinx shook her head.
“She’s sick. What kind of asshole does this?”
They all knew the answer.
“Artemis.”
Maura moved around, and she saw pictures that broke her heart.
This would have destroyed Remington. This would have damaged him in ways that he’d never be repaired from.
When she stood there, Jagger approached.
“What are you thinking?”
“Remmy told us that Artemis drugged him, and he had sex with her. Then, he went home, and his wife and child were killed.”
Jinx paused.
“What drug makes people want to have sex?” she asked, already knowing that answer.
“Addiction,” Jagger said.
“Remington’s family was killed by El Gato, right?” Maura asked.
They all nodded.
“How did El Gato find them? Remington was CIA. His house, anything in his name, or his wife’s would have been kept off the records for his safety. The government does that to protect its operatives.”
Jinx knew.
“Uh, they were killed right after she and Remmy had sex, right?” she asked.
Maura nodded.
“From what I’ve heard, yes.”
Well, then…
“Remmy showed me something.”
She lifted a brow.
“What?”
Jinx explained.
“He was in the kitchen toiling over his relationship with Calyx—before he broke his celibacy.”
