Everything else was put on hold, as they stood there, watching the big screen.

They could see a map and that the people they loved were navigating the water, trying to get to Remington. That took dedication since they all knew what was in that water.

Deadly.

Things.

“Did you find anything?” Dakota asked as Merry was busily checking all the tech that the team had ‘borrowed’ from the warehouse right under Artemis’ nose.

“I’m still decrypting. I will say that we’ve passed on the picture of Alexsandr to Homeland Security, via the channel Elizabeth told us to, and by now, every passenger entering the country is going to be scanned.”

That was a good thing.

Oh, the man might still get in, but he wasn’t getting in without them knowing about it.

“Just keep doing what you do, Merry,” Dakota said. “You’re doing a damn good job.”

She appreciated that.

Not far away, his wife was pacing.

“I wish we were with them,” Eve admitted.

Her husband stared at her.

“You want to be tit deep in a swamp where there are snakes, leeches, and spiders the size of a dinner plate?” he asked.

“Well, yeah. Because they are dealing with it, I should be there.”

“Ditto,” Jinx stated.

“Same,” Zayn offered.

Dakota shook his head.

“You Marines are terrifyingly weird with your idea of funsies,” he said.

Oh, he’d go, but he’d hate every second of it.

“If you didn’t spend a late night in a swamp, what did you do for fun?” Zayn asked.

Oh, well, the non-Marines knew.

“Sleep. Eat cookies in bed. Listen to music,” Merry said as she worked.

They all laughed.

Yeah, that wasn’t their thing. The few, the proud, the crazy was their motto.

When there was a beep, Merry glanced up at the screen, and she saw that MATE had done it again.

“The laptop we got from the warehouse is decrypted. MATE kicked its ass. MATE, you’re smart.”

The system hummed.

“Thank you. You are too. Meredith.”

She grinned, loving to bust ass.
