Oh, well, they knew what would happen if Artemis got free from The Hunters.

She’d come here first.

“I know. I worked with her extensively, and she asked for help. Since she couldn’t come to remove her mother herself, she asked me to do it, and I brought the court order allowing me.”

She handed it to the woman.

It was fake as fake could be, but she knew the women would take it for face value since she was recognizable.

As Sarah read over it, she nodded to her coworker.

“It’s legit.”

Axelle smiled.

“Thank you for being cooperative. We just want to make sure Ms. Dubois is safe. You know how it is.”

The nurses were very cooperative.

“No, we understand. Do you want us to wake her and get her outside?”

Axelle nodded, knowing that the little black box in her pocket would block the cameras.

“Yes, can I have the order back?”

The nurse held onto it.

“I have to scan it first,” she said. “Then, yes, you can.”

That worked for her.

“Sure thing.”

She followed the one nurse to the desk, and hoped that Gabby was as good as Elizabeth said she was.

She sent her a text as she waited.

‘Delete the scanned order when you see them close out the woman’s file. We are to leave no trace.’

She hit send and stood there, smiling as she waited patiently.

When the woman scanned it, and added it to the patient’s digital file, she knew it would be gone in minutes.

“Here you go, Director,” Sarah said, handing her the paper. “I hope everything works out. Should I tell the facility director that Ms. Dubois is gone? I can call him.”

She reassured her.

“As soon as the threat to her daughter is handled, we’ll bring her right back. We don’t want to disrupt her life.”

From where they stood, they heard the elderly woman coming.

“Where are you taking me?” the older woman asked.

The nurse with her tried to explain.

“The nice director, who knows your daughter, is going to make sure you are safe.”

The woman looked confused.
