She was his foundation and peace.

Because he could, Ethan tugged her against him.

“Well, Mrs. Blackhawk, I have a kink too. It seems it’s you,” he said, stealing another kiss. The kiss was so deep, that it momentarily gave her a break.

God.

She needed this.

Immediately, she forgot what she was thinking.

The man’s mouth…

Holy shit.

It should be a lethal weapon.

When she heard footsteps enter the room, they broke the kiss, and found Gene standing there.

“Uh, sorry,” he said, beginning to back up. “I woke up and Ethan was gone.”

Ethan waved him in, holding out his hand for Gene to take.

“Busted by the ex,” he joked.

Elizabeth winked at her husband.

“Come on in, Gene. We’re just working, or we were before Ethan got kiss-happy.”

Oh, he liked kissing his spouses, and ironically, that was all because of the man standing there.

Gene was the ONLY reason he’d learned to love.

“I don’t want to interrupt, and that was NOT working. I know the difference.”

She found him amusing.

“Now who’s busted. I’m making out with an employee. God. I love my job. Finally, HR can kiss my ass.”

Ethan snorted.

“Funny, Elizabeth. Real funny.”

She patted the couch for Gene as soon as she moved over, giving him room to sit beside Ethan.

“I needed my profiler, or I would have let him and you sleep. I apologize.”

Gene had cried himself to sleep, and the only reason he’d been able to was having Ethan there. He’d soothed him, allowing him to just curl into his body.

It gave him peace.

Instead of saying anything, because he’d been having a really good dream, he sat.

Elizabeth clued them both in.

“We have a problem, and that was my coffee break. I’m running on fumes,” she admitted. “Ethan charges my battery.”

“I’m fun like that,” he admitted.
