His ass had been set up.

Good.

For.

Him.

No one deserved it more.

“Let’s just say that I’m Gabe’s favorite,” she said, smiling sweetly.

It made Axelle snort.

“Kiss ass.”

Before she could say anything, the Archangels came in with a woman, so they stopped talking about what was going to happen.

The woman was about sixty, and she was looking around.

“Are you my Artie?” she asked, and Elizabeth headed her way.

“I am, Mom. Are you hungry? Can we get you anything to eat?” she asked, playing the role.

She looked around.

“Who are all these people?” she asked. “Are they your school friends, Artie?”

She nodded.

“Yes, Mom, they are my friends. Would you like some coffee?” she asked.

The woman nodded.

“Yes, I would. Do you have a TV? My programs are on, and I don’t like to miss them. That judge is spicy, and I like how she doesn’t take shit.”

That worked for them.

Going behind the island, she made her a coffee and pointed.

“The nice Archangels are going to watch TV with you. I hope they like your programs. I hope they aren’t over their heads.”

The one flipped her off.

Axelle pointed at him.

“Uh, sister-in-law. Be nice.”

He muttered something under his breath, and headed out, much to Ivan’s amusement.

“God. I love seeing them miserable,” he admitted.

Yeah, her too.

Because it was polite, she introduced the other person who came in with her.

“This is Gabby, and she works on my team. Gabby, this is a room full of people you will never admit to meeting or seeing because the Federal government says they don’t exist. Am I clear?”

The woman nodded.
