“They, too, were killed and you can say not in the most pleasant of ways.”
Oh, that was an understatement.
“They were found an hour ago, while the first two were found a couple of days ago. Both sets of people were grabbed and disappeared. We have witnesses who saw the first pair taken in broad daylight, but the abductors were masked. We don’t have their IDs, but we can take a wild stab at who hired them.”
The Major agreed.
“This is all going to be connected,” Maura said.
Elizabeth nodded.
“Likely.”
Tommy shook his head.
“I knew him too,” Tommy said. “He was my boss. WHEN I was a cop.”
They all heard the tension.
And let it go.
This wasn’t the time or the place. This was about piecing this together so they could save anyone who was in the way of the oncoming Russian train.

“Yes, like I said, he was the commissioner. Someone grabbed him and his wife, and he was tortured, and they were both raped. The same is true for the first pair. The wounds were visible, and I’ve seen the crime scene photos—don’t ask how.”

“How are they connected other than their paths crossing due to the job?” Jagger asked. “We all know this isn’t going to be coincidental.
