Xavier looked up from his computer, then closed it. Aiden must’ve had an important piece of information if even Xavier wanted to be a part of the conversation. Aiden gestured for them to sit, which Sienna did with great reluctance. Her adrenaline was off the roof, making it impossible for her hands and feet not to fidget.

“Before I start, let me just jump to the end and say we don’t have Kyle yet nor are we familiar with his whereabouts,” Aiden said quickly, destroying everyone’s hopes in one swift move.

“I suppose you have good news, or you wouldn’t have us come so fast,” Jensen said, giving his brother a chance to explain.

“Well, I did tell you that I had some errands to run and now that it’s confirmed, I can reveal it to you,” Aiden started and took a seat at the head of the table. “I’ve been running around, talking to our allies. I figured, what’s the point of having them if we don’t use them, so I had a couple of meetings and gave them their assignments.”

“Well done on showing the initiative,” Jensen complimented his younger brother, giving him a proud smile.

“First, I talked to the Friedmans, and they agreed to freeze the Remingtons’ bank accounts. Kyle won’t have any access to his family’s money, which will only slightly lower the danger. With no funds to pay his people, they’re bound to leave him sooner or later,” Aiden told them.

“Good thinking,” Jensen said, then turned to Xavier. “It’s far-fetched, but try to get the addresses of the places Kyle has used his credit cards since that day. We might be able to come up with an idea of the area he’s hiding in.”

“Sure thing,” Xavier agreed with a nod.

“Second,” Aiden continued, everyone’s attention back on him again. “I talked to the Vangs and their daughter assured me they’d inform us of all the rumors flying around about Kyle. I told her that everything, no matter how small, is of the highest importance to us.”

“Anything good?” Jensen asked with a raised brow.

“A few that looked promising but ended up leading to a dead end,” Aiden replied with a tired sigh.

They were all exhausted. Living on the edge of the seat wasn’t nearly as exciting as advertised. Looking behind your back and keeping your eyes peeled made them all paranoid.

“The Cambridges programmed their satellite to search for Kyle and any of his supposed associates,” Aiden continued, talking about the internet security software tycoons. “At the end of the day, we have to keep in mind that it’s a computer and we can’t be sure about its precision. It needs to be checked out by actual people, which brings me to our dear Governor Ochoa.”

“What could a politician do?” Jaxon asked mockingly. “Talk about our problems to no end and exhausting the other side into surrender?”

“Shut up, Jaxon,” Jensen snapped. “The politicians have more power than you’d think, which is why we went after him in the first place. He’s a valuable asset to have.”

“I agree,” Aiden said with a nod, then continued, “Governor Ochoa promised the help of the police. They’ll be our eyes and ears on the street. However, without a probable cause, they can’t do much more than that, which is why I also talked to Mr. Lockwood.”

“My dad?” Sienna asked, unsure of how he’d fit in with the rest. “What’s his role in all this?”

“Your dad is the owner of one of the largest private militaries in the states,” Aiden told her.

Sienna’s mouth fell open in surprise. Somehow, she’d missed that little tidbit of information during their debriefings.

“Whenever we have a suspected sighting, the soldiers will be sent to confirm it. We’ll take every report and every rumor seriously. No stone will go unturned,” Aiden finished, determination shining in his eyes.

“I have to admit, Aiden, you’ve done a very good job,” Jensen said, not bothering to disguise how impressed he was with his brother.

Aiden gave him a smile, then looked at Sienna. “I just want this nightmare to be over with and Sienna safe.”

“Hear, hear,” Jaxon said in agreement.

“We all do,” Xavier added.

Sienna looked at the Carrington heirs, her protectors, her friends, her family, and her lovers. Her heart warmed up, swelling with the love she felt for them. Her eyes welled up with tears, but she blinked rapidly, preventing them from falling.

“I really appreciate everything you’re doing for me,” she told them, looking at each of them in turn. “I don’t know how I’ll ever be able to repay you all for this.”

“I can come up with a couple of ideas,” Jaxon said not so subtly, bursting the balloon of emotional tension as everyone started to laugh.

“Never change, little brother,” Xavier said between the laughs. “You’re the craziest of us all.”

“Actually, I think you are,” Jaxon countered. “Did I see painted rocks in your room the other day?”

Sienna held her breath, unsure how Xavier would react. Xavier’s body tensed, his eyes on high alert.
