Can she hear me?She laughed.

Nope.

Okay, park around back. We’ll be ready.

Okay, I love you.

She snickered.I love you too.

“What’d she say?” Jenna beamed.

“Did you really think she’d say no?”

“Well, she’s been spending time with the kids today, so I wasn’t sure if she’d be burned out.”

“If anything,” I groaned, “she’s going to get baby fever.”

She glanced at her phone. “It’s so late already. Good thing I went to the bathroom and pumped while you were getting your hair done. You’re so high maintenance.”

Suddenly, I patted my jacket. “Shit, I left something important at the club. Do you mind if we stop by there on the way?”

“Sure.”

On the way to Euphoria, she was quiet. I peeked over several times to see her staring at her phone, scrolling through photos of Tyler. I was happy she was about to have a distraction. She needed it. We all needed it. I came to a stop behind the club, jumping out of the car. Reaching into the door pocket, I pulled out my navy-blue, Red Sox cap, securing it low on my head.

“Come on. I’m not leaving you out here by yourself.” I opened the passenger door.

“I’ll be fine.”

“Nope, get out. I need security. Can’t leave you out here.”

“Ugh,” she groaned, getting out of the car. “We’re closed right now. Why would you need security? The dancers are probably practicing.”

As we stepped into the back of the building, I made a point to lock the door behind us.

“I left what I need in the showroom.”

Sauntering down the hall, I noticed how different the atmosphere was when it was closed. I could only describe it as like going to Las Vegas during the day when all the lights were off. Euphoria looked like any other business, but once the lights were down and the music was on, it was a magical place.

“Ooh, I love this song.” Jenna beamed, dancing as we trekked down the hallway.

I opened the showroom door for her.

The moment she stepped through the threshold, she gasped, covering her mouth.

SURPRISE!All our close friends and family shouted at once.

We hadn’t invited our parents because we didn’t want Jenna to feel sad, but we did invite all the adults we felt were worthy of an invitation. Our siblings, and even some of Jenna’s close friends from our college, came. Amber skipped forward, grabbing her hands.

“What’s this?” Jenna teared up.

“Remember when I asked you if you missed dancing? I thought you might like to have a party that involved dancing and maybe keeping your clothes on.”

“Amber!” She laughed, throwing her arms around her neck, hugging her firmly. “Thank you so much. I need this distraction.”

Jenna squeezed Ian next. “Wait, who’s watching the kids?”

Ian kissed her forehead. “My parents have them for the night.” He gestured to the room. “This was all Amber’s idea.”
