“I don’t have to work for the next couple of days, so that might do,” I sighed in disbelief that I was even considering it. “I don’t really know you and—”

“Just as friends. But, before you say yes, just know you’ll have your own space, and I won’t bother you.”

Twisting my lips up, I attempted to mask my suspicion. Maybe I just felt insecure. Why would this man want me?I was reading into it way too much. He offered it as a friend.

Exhaling a deep breath, I rolled my bottom lip between my fingertips. “Just for a few days?”

With a grin painted on his face, he bowed his head once before meeting my gaze. “A few days.”

Movement in the kitchen window caught my attention. Hesitantly, I walked over to the back door, opening it. We stepped inside where Ian and Jenna were having an intense conversation. Shifting my weight, I listened.

“… is your goal?” Jenna leaned on the kitchen island cabinets.

“To bring him back where he belongs!” Ian spat. “He’s fucking up his life and I can’t take it any longer. I’m done, Jen. He needs someone to kick his ass.”

“He’s in the middle of filming a movie.”

Ian paced the kitchen. “And at the speed he’s going, he won’t make it to the end of that project alive. He’s going to get himself killed soon.”

Alejandro laced his fingers in mine, tugging me into the family room. Taking my forearms in his hands, he searched my astonished gaze.

“And now they’re arguing over his actions because of me.”

He pulled me into his body, hugging me. “The offer stands.”

“I’ll go.” I buried my face into his chest.

CHANCE

Another agonizing day of filming with a hangover came and went. I had succeeded in angering Tobyn once again. My co-stars had almost had it with me. I felt the tension on set after the interview was aired, but I hadn’t watched it. I knew I was the talk of the world right now. At the moment, I was drowning myself in another bottle of vodka, and didn’t care.

RING!

RING!

Reaching in my pocket, I slid out my phone, seeing the gate notification. Without checking, I buzzed whoever it was in before staggering to the front door to greet them. I threw it open to see Simone standing on the doorstep with a worried expression on her face.

“What are you doing here?” I let go of the handle, leaving the entrance open, staggering away.

“God, what’s wrong with you, Chance?” She closed the door behind her, catching up to me with a few long strides.

Turning to meet her gaze, I held my hands out to the side, bottle in one hand. “Why are you in my house, Simone?”

“Because I’m worried about you.” She took a step toward me.

“D-don’t come closer.”

“Do you realize what a mess you’re becoming?” She balled her fists, resting them on her hips. “I don’t know you anymore. You know I’ve always been one of your biggest fans.” She roamed the living room, making big gestures with her hands. “Now, you’re just ruining your life over what?” Stopping, she crossed her arms over her stomach. “For what, Chance? Some stupid girl who couldn’t even keep your attention?”

I dropped the almost empty bottle of vodka on the floor, but it didn’t break. Closing the distance between us in a split second, I backed her against the wall. She held my gaze, challenging me. Glaring into her dark eyes, anger rose within me. She jumped as I slammed my fist on the wall next to her head.

“Never say shit about her, do you understand me?!” I wagged a finger in her face before resting my hand on the wall once again.

She nodded slowly, with desire in her eyes, pressing her body against mine. “I just hate seeing you so sad.”

“I’m not sad, I’m done!”

Reaching down to my navy blue, ripped jeans, she unbuttoned them, with her eyes lustfully locked on mine. “How done are you?”
