“Jenna told me how to get in.” Leaning back with his arms out, he crossed his ankle over his knee. “Care to tell me why you’ve been acting like a fucking idiot?”

“You wouldn’t under—”

“Don’t you dare finish that sentence! Do you understand how worried everyone is?” He stood, crossing his arms. “Your display of craziness on TV last night was enough to cause an argument between my wife and me!” Coming to a stop, he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath before meeting my gaze. “Chance, you’re on a downward slope killing yourself. Jenna’s hurting, I’m pissed, Amber ran off to New Yo—” He froze.

“Amber went to New York?!” Springing to my feet, I winced, grabbing my forehead. “Why did she go there and with who?!”

Ian remained silent. Picking up a pack of cigarettes off the coffee table, he lit one.

“Ian, who did Amber go to New York with?”

Deeply inhaling the cigarette, he maintained his stare, but he refused to respond.

“Did Amber go to New York with a guy?” I attempted to remain calm. “Just nod or shake your head.”

Slowly, he nodded, blowing out a cloud of smoke.

Falling back on the couch in defeat, I buried my face in my palms before lighting my own. “Who is it?”

“Alejandro, but she went just to get away from things.”

“She doesn’t love me.”

“Are you kidding?” He wandered the room, dragging his palm along the back of the sofa. “She’s crazy about you, but you’re out here publicly acting like a drunken idiot with women, interviews, and—”

“I didn’t fuck anyone, and Amber told me she was over me!” I jumped up, marching outside the back glass door.

Ian followed. “She’s not over you, but she’s hurting and if you don’t come the fuck home right now, you’re going to lose her.”

“To Alejandro?” I snorted sarcastically. “Even his name is awoman stealingname. Hi, I’m boring, Chance, what’s your name?” Mockingly, I shook an imaginary hand. “Alahhandrrro.” Throwing my arms out to the side, I scowled. “Do you see the problem here? I can’t even say,Oh, I’m a celebrity. I’m better than himbecause Amber couldn’t give two shits about who I am. She’s the only woman who has ever loved me for me.” I exhaled a deep breath, then took a long drag of my cigarette.

“Are you done now?” The corner of Ian’s lips twisted up.

“Yeah, don’t even say it.” I rolled my eyes. “I know that was stupid.”

“I think you need to get her back before you lose her for good.”

“ToAlahhandrrro?” I joked in a sarcastic whisper.

“Come on. Get your shit. The plane is waiting.”

“Waiting?” I snuffed my cigarette out in a nearby ashtray. “When did you get a plane?”

He shrugged. “Borrowed from my friend, Valentino, in New York, but now I think I want one.”

“Of course, you do.” I arched a brow. “Can I shower first?”

He nodded, “I’ll let Ice Man know so he can make departure arrangements and I’ll make you a hangover cocktail while I wait.”

The following morning, I was awakened by the smell of bacon and coffee. Stretching my arm, I rolled over, burying my face in the pillow next to me, groaning. Ian and I had gotten in late the previous night. He insisted I stay with him and Jenna until I could be trusted, whatever that meant. I slid out of bed, reaching for a shirt. I reluctantly headed down to the kitchen, knowing a lecture awaited me.

Jenna was hunched over the stove, staring intently at something she was preparing. Sauntering over to the breakfast nook table, I slid the chair out slowly and loudly. The scraping of wood across the tile floor echoed through the room. She jumped, spinning on her heels. I chuckled as she strode over, throwing her arms around me.

“You scared me to death!”

I sighed. “I love you too.”
