“Let me handle that.”

I rolled my eyes. “Fine, but if Amber gets hurt—”

“I don’t think he’d hurt her. He seems to actually like her.”

My cigarette fell to the floor, and I scuffed my foot across it, putting it out on the concrete.

“Don’t worry, we’ll figure it out.”

“I hope so, because I just want to turn his face into a Picasso painting.”

He laughed. “I have a feeling you’ll get the opportunity, but let’s get out of here before anyone finds out we met here. Ian has people patrolling here all the time and someone should be by soon.”

“Can I ask you something?” I stopped just before opening my car door.

“What?” Furrowing his brow, he slid his hands in his pockets.

“Can you guys please make sure she stays safe at work? I think I need to give her space right now.”

“And why is that?”

“We got into a fight, and she went and got in the car with him after she left my house.”

“Ouch.”

“Um, yeah, so can you just make sure she’s okay for a while until we can talk?” I didn’t want Alejandro near her without eyes on her at all times. “It’s just with what happened with Jen last year and—”

“No, no, I get it.” Cutting me off, he crossed his arms over his chest. “But now, I’ll give you some advice.”

“What?”

Smirking, he shook his head. “I think you need to just show her how much you want her.”

“She knows.”

“Dude, you fucked around with some other girls, and she heard it happening then had to watch you leaving the club with them on replay, via every news outlet.” He clicked his tongue on the roof of his mouth. “She had the media coming at her too. How would you feel if she accidentally called you when Alejandro is all up in that pu—”

“OKAY!”

Snorting, he shrugged. “I’m just saying, man.”

“I get it. Shit!”

“Go get your woman, you ignorant fuck.”

LOVESICK FUCK

AMBER

After Alejandro dropped me off, I took a long, scorching shower. It always made me feel better when stressed. After wrapping a soft pink robe over my naked body, I trudged to the kitchen to brew some Earl Grey tea.

Did I overreact?Yep!Was I being insane?I was! It was just so hard to accept he’d been with someone else when I was left to deal with the breakup alone. All because he was scared? Then, when I forced myself to move forward, learning to live without the man I loved, he came back. I didn’t even want to be with Alejandro. I didn’t want anyone but Chance.

Pacing the living room, I sipped on my cup of tea, looking for something to read. My eyes fell on the book Alejandro gave me. On the way home, I felt bad for being suspicious of him. He seemed to always be there when I needed someone and went out of his way to give me a ride home so I wouldn’t have to take public transportation.

Curling up in my white swivel barrel chair, I grabbed the pink and grey plaid throw blanket hung over the back. Draping it across my legs, I tucked it around me before opening the novel. Taking a deep breath, I read. Page after page, I dug deeper into why he loved the book so much. I saw why it was one of his favorites.KNOCK! KNOCK!
