“I already notified Ice Man,” Luke interjected. “He’s calling extra security for the hospital. They’re safest there, anyway. We have to find Tyler and pray we’re not too late. Ian and Jenna aren’t to know about this!”

“Great.” Rolling my eyes, I sighed. “Ian knows Tyler is missing.”

“What?!” Luke snapped. “How?”

“He is a human lie detector. He saw I was hiding something, so he called me out on it in the hall. Ice Man knew too, so he might have started on the security by the time I spoke to him.”

“Ian won’t leave Jenna’s side while she’s in the hospital.” Luke put his hands on his hips. “So, we’re on our own for this one.”

A rattling sound echoed around us, shaking me to the core. One of the men stepped to the side, picking up a black phone off a grey-ish waist high headstone. A sigh of relief overcame me when I realized all the bodies were not about to emerge from the ground, but my relief was soon replaced with uneasiness. The guy handed the phone to Luke, who swiped the screen, reading the message aloud.

Come to the warehouse with your most worthy opponent. You know exactly who I mean.

“Oh, hell no!” I bobbed my head, taking a step back. “I’ve been in this movie before. I know how it ends.”

Nico shot me an angry glare. “What are you talking about?”

“Dude,” I scoffed, “I was literally in a movie where I was in a cemetery, got a text, then was made to fight a friend of mine and—” I froze, staring straight ahead. “Oh no, we have to go immediately.”

We sprinted across the creepy yet peaceful grounds. I hopped into the back of Nico’s Jeep. Luke slid into the passenger side. Not bothering to buckle my seatbelt, I leaned between the front seats. Nico sped through the streets, the car with the other men tailing closely behind.

“That was just a movie,” Nico broke the silence suddenly.

Luke groaned, peering out the window. “I’m going to regret asking this, but what happened in the end?”

“My character was left with no choice but to kill his best friend.”

“That movie,Choices, yeah?” Luke uttered.

“That’s the one, yep, and Robbie Hart’s character said those exact lines sent in the text.”

“I remember. Great movie, but not one I want to live in.” Luke glanced down at his phone. “Damnit.”

Looking over his shoulder, I spotted Ian’s name on the screen. “You have to take it.”

Hello?Luke answered, putting Ian on speaker.

Luke! Where are you?

We’re in the car.

I just got a text from an unknown number, Ian muttered into the phone. I’m being summoned to ditch the security detail and go to the warehouse.

No!I barked.Shit, I growled, sitting back.

Chance, what are you doing in the car with Luke? You guys better not be doing what I think you’re doing.

We are going to the warehouse, but you need to stay there with Jenna. Luke ordered.

Ian, please don’t come!I pleaded.Trust me when I tell you this is a major set up for a character I played in a movie called Choices and he’s using me.

Nothing but silence on Ian’s end.

Hello?Luke groaned.

Nothing.

Ian?
