“The ceremony.”

“What about it? You know you don’t have to agree with something just because my mother says so. This is about us and our commitment.”

“Do you think we could get wedding bands?” She must have seen his confusion and quickly added, “Wedding rings. In a human wedding, the couple vows their commitment to each other and in recognition of that commitment, they exchange wedding rings. It’s a visible sign that someone is committed to someone else.”

He liked the idea of everyone knowing that she belonged to him and in turn, everyone seeing that he belonged to her. Of course, within a pack everyone knew who the couples were, but outside of the pack it was never visible for anyone unless it was made known.

“I love that idea.”

“Thank you.”

They’d reached the truck and Blake opened the door for her. Before she climbed in, she reached up and pulled him into a kiss. Her lips moved eagerly over his, her hands embedded deep into his hair pulling him even closer. He laid his hands on her waist and lifted her up, setting her on the seat. Freeing her lips from his, she leaned her forehead against his.

“I love spending this much time with you. Having you around without having to worry is soothing to my soul.”

“I feel the same.”

The ride home was quiet. She looked tired and seemed to have trouble keeping her eyes open. By the time he drove off the highway and onto his dirt path, she’d fallen asleep. He parked the truck in front of their cabin and as quietly as possible got out of the truck and opened the passenger door. He gently picked her up, cradled her against his chest, and carried her inside.

“I would’ve walked inside.”

He smiled down at her sleepy face. “I don’t mind carrying you.”

“Just wait till the babies grow bigger, I won’t be as easy to lift anymore,” she giggled as he sat her on the bed.

“Remember, wolves are much stronger than humans and I am an alpha wolf–which makes me even stronger than the usual wolf.”

“And more handsome,” she blushed at her own words and stood up. “I’ll just change really quick and call it an early night.”

As she rushed off to the bathroom he changed and laid in bed. When she returned, she cuddled up to him and they both drifted off, falling asleep holding each other.

Niev was woken up by Blake kissing her forehead. “Good morning, beautiful.”

She yawned and opened her eyes. “Good morning.”

“I know it’s early, but I need to head to work. I wanted to drop you off in the village beforehand.”

“You don’t have to drop me off. I can drive myself, but I would like to take the truck. I don’t feel like Berta would appreciate the dirt roads much.”

He didn’t seem to like the idea of her driving herself. “Are you sure?”

“Yes Blake. I’ll be fine, and the bump is not touching the steering wheel yet.”

He sighed, defeated. “I know you’ll be fine. I just feel like I should drive you.”

She crooked her eyebrow and giggled. “Because you’re the man and I’m the woman? I’m your warrior, remember? If I can slay a wolf, I can drive myself.”

He leaned forward and kissed her forehead again. “Of course you can.”

He got out of bed, and she watched as he grabbed a pair of black jeans and a black shirt and laid it on the bed.

“Why don’t you get changed?”

He laughed, amused. “I’m sorry to disappoint, but I’ll run as wolf.”

“A little morning jog then,” she giggled.
