“Don’t be scared, beautiful,” Blake reassured her, and his feelings mirrored it. He wasn’t scared, not one bit–only curious. “I don’t think it’s bad, just unusual.”

“I think I healed you.” She couldn’t feel his blood drip anymore.

He nodded. “Shall we let go?”

“No, I like feeling you.”

He smiled and she could feel how her compliment warmed his heart. “I enjoy it too.”

They held on for a few more moments before they both felt that they were ready to let go. Niev loosened her grip, and so did Blake. To her surprise, nothing changed. She could still sense his pride and happiness. She jolted forward, wrapping her arms around him. She didn’t have to say anything–she knew that he could feel her too.

“Do you still feel one another?” Tanner asked softly as if he didn’t want to interrupt their moment.

Blake nodded. “We do.”

“I’ve never heard of anything like it,” Mayra mumbled.

Whispers spread through the clearing as everyone realized what was happening. Niev had been so focused on Blake that she’d forgotten about everyone else, and especially that they were watching them.

“No need to be ashamed or worried, beautiful. I believe us feeling each other is nothing dangerous.”

She looked up and he ran his fingertips over her cheek bone. “Are you sure?” She knew that he believed every word that he was saying but somehow, she needed to also hear it through his words.

Blake nodded and Tanner quickly agreed. “I would rather say it’s one of many blessings Selene has given you.”

“May I hug and congratulate you both now?”

Mayra was crying happy tears. Niev and Blake nodded, and she wrapped her arms around them both, squeezing them tight. A moment later, more arms wrapped around them, and she heard Layla, Ann, and Lyliann congratulate them. It was a wholesome feeling that Blake seemed to reciprocate.

After the group hug ended, more people came forward. The pack congratulated them, wishing them all the best for their future. It was quite overwhelming because she couldn’t only feel her emotions, but Blake’s too and that was a lot to process.

At the end after most of the pack left, Niev had trouble distinguishing between their emotions. He must have felt it too and pulled her closer.

“Just a few more moments and then we can go home.”

She nodded and leaned into his arms, letting him carry some of her weight. He wrapped his strong arms tightly around her and she could feel that he enjoyed how much she needed him. He was glad to be able to take some of the weight off her shoulders.

Layla stepped closer and hugged them both again. “It was such a beautiful ceremony.” She turned to Niev and said, “Thank you for letting me be part of your special day.”

“Thank you for helping us,” Niev said, reciprocating the hug.

“So, you can sense all of each other’s feelings?” Layla asked curiously.

Niev nodded but Blake was the one to answer. “It’s like her emotions flow into me.”

Only their close family was there together with Olivia and Tristan. They all came closer, curious to hear more.

“And you feel the same, Niev?” Lyliann asked as she leaned against Seth, who was holding Darron in his arms.

“Yes. It’s a little overwhelming though.”

Ann quickly chimed in too, “Can you separate the feelings?”

“Most of the time.”

Kareem stepped closer. “My pack has a legend in which Selene guided two souls to one another. They went through many hardships throughout their lives. When they found each other, they discovered that when Selene had created them, she’d split one soul into two bodies only for them to reunite on earth. They were meant to be. Fate drew them together and their hardships paid off. They had the ability to know one another just as well as they knew themselves, always knowing where each one was, and knowing what was on the other’s mind. We call them true mates.”

Niev tilted her head and looked up at Blake. “Didn’t Harriette tell a similar story at the bonfire?”
