“Hello there, Dante. Are you here to pick up your order?” Chelsea sized me up as I approached her. The perfect remedy to my half-stiff dick. Completely flaccid.

“I am. Is Sam around?” I asked, looking around.

“No, nobody is here. We can go around back. I’ll make you come quick.” She licked her lips and tilted forward, showing me her tits. Yup, still limp.

“When he gets in, have him call me.” I turned around and felt a slap to my ass. I turned and looked at Chelsea as she was wiggling back off the counter she’d leaned over to get to me. “Don’t you ever touch me again,” I warned her. I knew my tone was harsh, but fuck that. The girl had no boundaries, and the shit was getting old. I could ignore the bullshit that came out of her mouth, but touching me was a hard no.

“Chelsea, where’s Sam? He shouldn’t leave such a good girl in the store alone. Never can be too safe. And not every man that comes through here is as sweet as Dante.”

I turned to see Mrs. Wallace at the entrance of the store. She winked at me and went back to looking at Chelsea.

“Yes, ma’am. He’s in the back helping to load a truck.”

Lying little b--. “Good morning, Ms. Wallace. What are you doing out this early? If you needed something, you know you could have called, and I’d have brought it to ya.” I walked over to her and gave her a big hug.

“I know, sweet boy. I needed some things now, and I could use the exercise.” She picked up a basket and handed it to me.

I knew the drill. I followed behind her as she loaded things inside. “When did you get back?” I asked.

“Back from where?”

“You and Mom went on the retreat.” I knew Ms. Wallace was part of the group that went.

“Your mother cancelled. She said we’d go next year. She was going to go with your father up there on that trip. So, I went to stay with my daughter in Virginia. I’ve only been back a few weeks and haven’t gone to sit with her. Is she okay? I figured she was still holed up after what happened to Jeremy Sr. How’s Junior doing?”

I was lost. My mother specifically told me she was with Ms. Wallace. Where was she? I tried not to worry about where she was, even though it bothered me. We talked daily, several times. I should have realized something was wrong, but I’d been overwhelmed with the business.

“Dante?” Ms. Wallace had walked ahead of me, and I’d stopped.

“Yes, ma’am. I’m sorry. I just got lost in my head, thinking about things I needed to get myself.”

“How’s Junior?” She asked again.

Right. I’d never answered. “I haven’t talked to him. He’s probably too busy grieving on his own. He didn’t make it down for the funeral, but he’ll probably come soon, though.”

“Junior? I’ve seen him a few times at your parents’ house. He looked worrisome.” She got close to me, speaking so that only I could hear. “I know sometimes he likes to wander into trouble, and he looks so lost, like he usually does when he’s… dabbling into things he shouldn’t. That smack isn’t good for him.”

“You saw my brother?” I asked. I couldn’t hold back the question because I’d been trying to get a hold of him, too. He’d left me to deal with this mess alone. My missing mother, the death of our father, our failing family business, and keeping it all together. Now, Ms. Wallace was telling me he was in town?

“Yes, he was at your parents’ house last night. Must’ve left around eleven. He never stays the night. He comes, stays till it’s dark, and then leaves.”

“And you’re sure it’s Jeremy?” I knew I locked the house up. The only people with a key were the four of us.

“Now, who else would it be?” Ms. Wallace asked.

“Good point.”

Ms. Wallace wasn’t the gossiping type. She was my mother’s best friend and always had our best interest in mind. She had no reason to lie to me. “I’ll stop by later and see if I can catch him.” And if my mind was putting things together correctly, I could catch him in the act. He was probably taking stuff and selling it.

“See… that’s what sweet boys do. I don’t know how Jeremy became who he is when your father and you are such good men. If my daughter wasn’t one of those lesbians, I’d be pressing you to marry her and give me some grandbabies.”

I chuckled. I’d known since junior high that her daughter liked girls. She used to make out with ’em in my barn. I charged her for keeping my mouth closed. She was a good friend and I wouldn’t tell anybody anyway, but I was saving up for a dirt bike I wanted.

“Let’s get this up to Chelsea so she can cash me out.” I followed her up and when she was done, I took her things out to the car.

“Listen here. You take out what you need, and I’ll bring the rest in for you tonight when I come over.”

“All right, Dante. I’ll see you soon.”
