Ellie rested against the headboard, happier than she’d ever been in her whole, entire life. All of her bills were finally paid off. She’d saved enough money to buy into Sugar Beat with Lizzie. And taking a giant leap of faith, she’d accepted Colt’s offer to move in with him, before she knew what his sign was. Of course, when she found out he was an Aquarius, she was over the moon.

She’d found the perfect place to live. The sister she never had but always longed for. A man who made her feel special every day. And her perfect match, according to the stars. What more could she ask for?

She glanced over at Colt. “Honey?”

“Yeah, angel.”

“Can we get a puppy?” She held her breath.

“No.” He sat up. “The last thing we need around here is a puppy. That would mean taking the dog out at all times of the day and night. Rain, snow. Training? No.” He shook his head. “No puppy. I’d be happy to get you some fish, though.”

“But I really want a puppy.”

He was about five seconds away from caving in. All she had to do was chew on her bottom lip.

Ellie rolled her bottom lip over her teeth and cast her eyes down.

“Fine. Get your puppy. But if you get one of those fufu purse dogs, I’ll never let you hear the end of it. And know that I will never, and I meannever, take the dog outside in inclement weather! That is all you, angel.”

She threw her arms around him and squeezed tight. “I love you, Colt Garrett.”

“I love you, too, angel.”

She planted a big kiss on the man the universe had been kind enough to send her. The man she was going to treasure for a lifetime. The man who would be the father of her children.

And the man who would be taking her teacup Yorkshire Terrier outside every time it rained.
