“Everyone knows I bring money in for the club by setting up transactions on the dark web.”

“We know, but what does that have to do with her?” My irritation is getting more noticeable in every word I speak as he talks forever instead of getting to the point.

“Again, what does that have to do with her?”

He pauses, looking back at the woman in front of him with a hint of wonder in his eyes, shaking his head in disbelief. “Gamer Scar Nine is my number one assassin contact.”

My body goes rigid with shock.

“What?” Gray takes a step closer to them, clearly not frozen in place with the new information like I am.

Shift nods like it all makes sense. “After her last job a few weeks ago, she went off the grid and I was getting worried.” He looks back at her with his eyes wide. “I didn’t realize you were even from Jasperville, never mind a Reaper.”

Scarlett shrugs, offering nothing to the conversation.

“Get to the fucking point,” I hiss, bracing my hands on the chair in front of me, and Scarlett sighs, rolling her eyes dramatically as she hits at Shift’s arm and it drops from her chin.

She faces us, lips thinned, as if she’s accepting her fate. “My last assignment was to kill the Ruthless Brother's Prez. A transaction set up by my contact, Kronkz, aka Shift.”

My blood runs cold, my jaw slack as I stare at her through a new lens.

Ryker prowls toward Shift, then points a finger at him. “Wait, you put the job out for someone to take outourPrez and profit from it? Who the fuck ordered that, and why the hell did you allow it?”

My heart pounds ferociously. Surprised, the words slip from my mouth.

“I did.”
