But, to my surprise, she slides a hand in her wet hair and looks around with a dazed expression. "Do you think you can do it again? Maybe in the bedroom? I'd like to see our bedroom actually."

I grin, pick her up, leave our clothes discarded where they are, and run naked through the house to our bedroom.

EPILOGUE

Iwakeupandfor a moment, feel lost. Where am I? And then - it comes back to me. Everything. Our wedding, this new house, the hours of lovemaking till the early hours with my husband.

I reach my hand out to look for his, but he's missing.

Confused, I get up and freshen up. With no clothes in sight and too embarrassed to walk out naked, I wrap the bed sheet around myself and wander out of the room.

I go down the banister and follow the sounds and smells - eggs sizzling, coffee permeating.

"There she is," he says, turning to look at me as he flips the egg in the pan.

I extend my arms and spin for him, still adorned in the sheet. He laughs, "You are just too sexy. Good thing no one else can see you under that sheet." He grabs one corner of it and starts to pull until I stand there stark naked.

"Whoa," he whistles.

I revel in the standing ovation I am getting and run to his arms. “It’s cold, it’s cold, it’s cold,” I squeal, as he hugs me tight. He puts me down and laughs, bringing me the bed sheet again.

"Sorry about that," he mutters, gently wrapping it around me and flicking away a piece of hair from my face. "I thought I'd bring you breakfast in bed and then go look for the luggage."

"Don't worry about it," I whisper back. "Can I help?"

"No! Never! Please allow me to take care of you."

We both stop, looking into each other's eyes, and I can't help but lightly peck him on his lips. The atmosphere around the kitchen changes into something else, something much bigger than the two of us - it becomes home.

"Adrian," I whisper, "I don't think I ever told you how lucky I am to have you. Truly."

He sets forth the breakfast plate in front of me, and I stare at it, enthralled at all the effort he's put in.

"You never have to thank me. You're my wife," he whispers in my ear.

"But I do," I say. "Just look at everything you do for me. You have billions of dollars at your disposal, house help at your beck and call, dozens of companies to manage, thousands of employees to manage and yet you cast aside everything, everything - to do these little things for me that most men never do for the women in their lives. Why?"

"Because family comes first, Olivia. And I always want you to be happy. Your happiness is my happiness."

I take his hand in mine and look into his eyes. "And mine lies in yours."

"If there's anything, anything at all that you need me to do for you, that I can get for you, just ask. I never want you to desire anything because you can have it all."

"Well," I ask, inching myself closer to him. "There is one thing I wanted to ask of you ..."

"Anything my love, anything. What is it?"

It's precious how worried he looks. I can only imagine the thoughts running through his mind. What is it that Olivia wants that I haven't thought of? My poor husband is probably chastising himself for not having thought of it first!

"Well, I was wondering, do you think you would be comfortable with me adopting Emily legally? Not as a stepmother, but to be her mother."

He looks up at me, eyes wide with disbelief. He opens his mouth to speak and closes it again, stunned and overwhelmed by the question.

And then he begins to cry. Tears stream down his face while he whispers, "Yes over and over, “Yes, yes, yes. You want to adopt my daughter … my god Olivia. She’d be blessed to have a mother like you.”

“Not your daughter,” I say, giving him a slight frown. “Our daughter …”

I can feel how much this means to him; how much Emily means to both of us - now officially a family. He wraps his arms around me and cries into my shoulder for what feels like an eternity, but all I can think about is how beautiful life is in this moment - that we finally have each other completely.

The End.
