She figured that was probably smart seeing as neither of them had any idea what they were doing.

So now, twenty minutes later and they hadn’t accomplished anything. Raven was trying to tell them the importance of meditation and concentration, but neither of them could sit still long enough to reach any level that she approved of.

It didn’t help that they kept laughing at each other.

They were sitting on the ground in lotus position, facing each other with their eyes closed. She had the urge to hum, “Ommmm” just to lighten the mood, but didn’t think Raven would appreciate her levity.

She felt something touch her knee. She opened one eye so she could see what it was, only to find a huge spider crawling on her leg.

She let out a loud screech and jumped up. She glanced around but couldn’t see where it went, so she started slapping her legs to make sure it wasn’t there anymore. Looking at herself, she still didn’t see it, so she glanced around the ground.

Finally, she saw the disgusting thing scampering off into the grass.

Then she realized Marshall was laughing hysterically. Apparently, he thought that was amusing. She also noticed Raven looking up at the sky and biting her lip, like she was also trying not to laugh.

Kenzie saw a few tiny pebbles on the ground and decided to have a little fun with them. After picking up a handful, she started chucking them at the two comedians. They weren’t big enough to hurt, just enough to sting and give her a good laugh.

When she threw the third pebble, something else happened though. She didn’t mean to and didn’t even realize she did it until Marshall was looking up at her dripping wet.

The water in the cow trough spiraled up out of the tub and splashed down on top of Marshall’s head.

“Oh shit.” She exclaimed. Then busted out laughing. She didn’t know how she did it, but knew it was her. She had felt the magic build in her chest and then it released, like a rubber band. She just hadn’t realized what it was.

Marshall sat there for a second, then Raven started laughing, unfreezing Marshall from his shock.

Faster than she could anticipate, he jumped to his feet and picked her up and started walking with determined strides. Kenzie tried to wiggle out of his arms but was laughing too hard.

Then he dropped her. Right into the cow trough and the water that was left in it.

She came up spluttering and laughing at the same time. She tried not to swallow the dirty water as it dripped down her face.

When she wiped the water from her eyes Marshall was still standing there with his arms crossed and a huge smile on his face as water dripped off him. Raven had joined him, and she reached out a hand to help Kenzie climb from the huge tub.

Once she was back on the ground, Marshall pulled her in for a tight hug, “That was awesome Kenzie. How did you do it?”

She shrugged, “Honestly, I didn’t mean to. You were laughing and I wanted a little fun revenge. Then my chest felt warm and it kind of felt like a coil, then it released, and the water went flying.”

Marshall shook his head to get some of the water off. She wouldn’t tell him this, but he looked like a wet dog when he did that. She could picture his wolf doing the exact same thing and chuckled again.

“So, I guess we know which element is yours.”

She nodded, “And yours is fire. Is it a coincidence that they are opposites?”

Raven held up her hand flat and twisted it from side to side, “Yes and no. They can be opposites, but they can also be very symbiotic. And those will be your big powers, but I have a feeling you can access all the elements. You’re both already showing signs of spirit. That’s the empathic and telepathic abilities you’ve both experienced. I think it’s going to be very interesting. Now, I want to try something.”

Raven motioned for them to move to the middle of the ring. Once they were there, she came up beside them, “Hold hands.”

Marshall took her hands, and they waited for Raven’s next instructions.

Raven placed her hands over their linked hands and closed her eyes. After a moment she opened her eyes again and nodded. “You’re connected.”

Marshall nodded, “Yea, Rhiannon said that.”

“Yea but she didn’t exactly elaborate. So, what does it mean?” Kenzie asked. Now that she was close, Kenzie could see Raven’s eyes better. They weren’t quite blue like she previously thought, they were more violet. But there were spots or sparkles in her eyes that almost looked like stars. Kenzie had never seen anything like it. She wanted to ask if it was natural but didn’t want to be rude.

“It means that your magic is tied together like with a cord, so you have to be physically close to each other to use it. You are bound, your destinies are so connected that I can almost see a cord connecting you. Hm...” Raven opened her eyes and glanced back and forth between them, “I wonder what the range is.”

Then she dropped their hands, “So what I want to do is teach you how to access your magic on purpose. Not just when you’re annoyed or whatever emotions have been triggering it. Though, I could see you both have been practicing building a wall for your psychic abilities. You’re better at it than I expected, though I think you help each other. Let’s see if we can get you both to activate your elements.”
