“Hm... Instinct. Maybe your powers come from your instincts or emotions.” Raven looked thoughtful, “I’ll think on it, and we’ll try it tomorrow. Good job! Back to hair dye!”

Then they all left the room again, leaving her and Sorcha to finish rinsing her hair.

“That is pretty cool you know. I wish I had powers.”

Kenzie finished rinsing out her hair, “It is kind of fun. I don’t know how to control it yet though. It just sort of happens.”

“You’ll get it though.” Sorcha said it with such confidence that Kenzie wanted to believe it too.

“Okay. Well for now, let’s get your hair dry.”

While she dried Sorcha’s hair, she thought about all the things a power like this could do. She wasn’t really a “save the world” kind of person. She liked helping others but was more of a bookworm.

She didn’t know the first thing about adventures or survival or fighting evil. She was just going to follow Marshall’s lead, after all, he was the Alpha and used to being a leader. He was probably much better at all of it.

Chapter 16.

Aiden

When Aiden left the others, he decided to go to his office. He needed to work on the designs for Mrs. Jones bakery. They had another week to get it done but with everything that had been going on lately, he figured the sooner it was done, the better.

Aiden was putting the finishing touches on the archways that Mrs. Jones wanted when Marshall walked into his office without knocking.

He glanced at the clock on the desk and realized he’d been at it for several hours.

Marshall didn’t immediately speak, he just sat in the chair across from Aiden’s desk, glancing around like he wasn’t actually looking at anything. Aiden figured he was thinking about everything that had happened in the last few days. It had definitely been a whirlwind so far.

“What’s up?” he asked, pulling Marshall out of his thoughts.

“Kenzie is having a girl’s night with your sister. And other than our little mind tricks, me and Kenzie couldn’t use our powers. Or rather, couldn’t use them intentionally. Kenzie did drop half the water trough on my head. But she didn’t mean to do it, so it doesn’t count. I just have this feeling that we need to know how to use them now, like we are teetering on the edge of something.” He sounded so frustrated.

Aiden didn’t know what to say that wouldn’t sound like empty platitudes. So, all he said was, “You’ll get it. Especially with Raven here now.”

“Yea. We really just need to…” Marshall trailed off. Aiden figured someone was talking to him. A moment later he finished his sentence, “…step it up. But right now, we have company.”

“Who?”

Marshall was already walking toward the door, and Aiden followed him through the house, “The rest of the council.”

Well, that wasn’t good. If they were here, this was no longer a werewolf issue, and someone had called them.

They exited the house just as a limo pulled up. The two Dobbins brothers’ light brown wolves were on either side of the car as security. They both nodded at Aiden and Marshall, then left to return to their posts.

Suddenly Kenzie was in his head,“You know, you would look pretty good in a skirt.”

What the hell? “Sweetheart, I think I’m going to need more information here.”

He felt laughter come from the link, then, “Your twin brother who looks very much like you, crashed girls’ night in a pencil skirt.”

He chuckled,“My butt would look so much better in that skirt than his.”

“I don’t know, his butt looks pretty great!”

He growled at her through the link,“Woman, don’t make me come up there.”

“Oh? What would you do?”She was in a fun mood. He figured girl’s night was going well. He liked hearing the laughter in her voice.

“I will throw you over my shoulder and whisk you away to a place where there are no other men for you to ogle.”
