"Ah...." Daniel teased.

"So, let's get started?" Chase chimed in. "How are we going to hack their system?"

Ryder pulled out his laptop and booted it up. "I've been working on this for weeks now... just in case." He said, smirking. "I have a few ideas, but we'll need to be quick."

"How long do you think it will take?" I asked.

"As long as it takes," Ryder answered. "But I'm hoping we can get in and out within an hour."

"Alright, let's get started then."

"Okay, Guy. Go ahead, plug in the jump drive, and download the files to your library master file.”

I plugged in the jump drive and copied the files over to my computer. Then I loaded the software and started the VPN. "It's working," I said after a few minutes.

Everyone watched as the blue line moved across the screen, then it stopped. "Shit!" Chase whispered and looked over at Guy. "There's a bug in the file."

"So, what do we do now?" Daniel asked.

"We'll have to start from scratch," Ryder said, sighing. "I'll run a virus scan…. send you the new file, and we'll try again." He had the new file a few minutes later, and we were back in business. This time, the file downloaded like a charm."Now, we'll run a port scan on the active IP addresses," Ryder told us.. "That will tell us what kind of computer it is and what services it's running."

"And from there?" I asked.

"From there, we'll start looking for vulnerabilities. Then, we can exploit it and gain access to the system," Ryder explained.

"So, we're going to be looking for a way to sneak in the front door," I said.

"Exactly." Ryder smiled. "But first, we need to find that door."

I turned back to my computer and started pinging the IP addresses. One by one, they lit up on the screen. "Looks like we've got a lot of active computers," I said.

"That's perfect," Ryder replied. "Let's see if we can find a way to get inside."

I started scanning the web server for vulnerabilities. A few minutes later, I found one. "I think I've got something."

"What is it?" Ryder asked.

"It looks like their authenticator is vulnerable to brute force attacks."

"Perfect," Ryder answered. "Let's see if we can get in."

I started the attack, and the login page popped up a moment later. "It worked!"

"Great job," Ryder said. "Now, let's see what we can find."

We started poking around the system, and it quickly became apparent that we had hit the jackpot. The server contained a wealth of information, including ABC's customer database and individual video files sorted by dates.

"This is exactly what we need," Ryder said with a smile.

"Yeah, but how will we get this data out of here?" I asked. "The file sizes are huge."

"Don't worry about that," Ryder said. "I'll take care of it."

Ryder started transferring the files to his computer while Chase and Daniel sorted through the customer database. I leaned back in my chair and let out a long breath.

"We did it."

"Yeah, we did," Ryder said, smiling. "We're one step closer to finding the security video of Ariel's apartment complex.”
