“As long as we want.”

She turned to look at him. “And you’re sure it’s safe for me to be leaving the country?”

“It can only confuse Greg and any leads he might have on your whereabouts.”

“Right,” she sat back against the seat with a sigh. “And now that I’ve officially filed for divorce, he must be livid.”

“You didn’t ask for anything. No money, no alimony, nothing. He has nothing to be mad about.”

“I know you think that was a mistake,” she said shyly.

“Not a mistake. Maybe you’re too gracious, though. I think the man should pay through the nose for the things he has done to you.”

“If I ask for any of his assets and money, then he will always be in my life. I will always feel like I owe what I have to him.” She shook her head. “No. This is better. A clean break. I never have to look at him or hear his name ever again. That’s what I want.”

“Then that is what you shall have,” he promised.

“Thanks for all your help, Wilder. Really.” She looked out of the window as the plane took on more altitude. “If you hadn’t taken me on, I’d probably be dead.”

His gut clenched. She wasn’t wrong.

“Greg won’t care that I haven’t asked for any money. He’ll want me silenced because I know a lot about his businesses. All the crimes he commits.”

“You should probably meet with one of my contacts in Europol.”

She pursed her lips at him. “Because it’s such a good idea to antagonize Greg.”

“Antagonize him? No. Make him pay for the things he has done? Absolutely.”

“Can I think about it? I don’t know if I want to be involved in a whole court case.”

“If you want to, you can always chat with my sister, Rylee. She’s super pregnant and angrier than I have ever seen her in my life, but she is a legal genius. She could tell you what to expect.”

“You would put me in touch with your sister?” she asked, genuinely shocked by the offer.

Truth be told, he was also pretty shocked that he had offered that up as an option. With her newfound pregnancy hormones, Rylee was more terrifying than before, and she would probably guess that Amelia was his mate. And he couldn’t count on his meddlesome sister to keep that information to herself.

“Why wouldn’t I?” he replied with a tight tone.

“Because then you might have to answer some awkward questions about me. My life. How we came to be so close.”

He waved her off. “Nothing for you to be concerned about,” he lied.

“Well, then, maybe I will talk with Rylee. If she can guarantee me that ratting out Greg to the European police forces won’t ruin my life, then maybe I will share all of Greg’s nasty business dealings. It would take down a lot of important people in one fell swoop.”

“I’ll give her a call when we land if you like,” he said, staring out of the window. “We shouldn’t be too far now.”

Amelia shot him a grin. “Are you going to tell menow?”

“Oh, no. I like the suspense much more.”

She rolled her eyes but sat beside him. She laid her head on his shoulder and said, “Wake me up when we get there, then.”

With his mate so close to him, Wilder didn’t think he ever wanted to land.
